Looking out for marine life doesn't stop once we're back on board!

We often spot sea snakes, manta rays, mating turtles 👀 and of course migrating humpback whales from the surface. 🔎

The Ningaloo is literally teeming with life!

📍Labyrinth is a local favourite dive site in Lighthouse Bay, offering endless treasures hidden in plain sight.

The numerous 'channels' of reef to explore at this dive site explains the name! 🤿🧭

This female leopard shark (Stegostoma tigrinum) is displaying interesting behaviour. She appears to be frolicking around in the sand as if trying to scratch an itch!

Leopard sharks are the closest relative to the whale shark (Rhincodon typus), which makes sense as to why they both share the same docile and gentle nature.

Thanks to one of our photographers for capturing this beautiful shark!

Equalisation checks before we descend! 👌🏽

Lighthouse Bay is a relatively shallow area, with maximum depths of around 14m.

These sites are ideal for all certified divers to explore comfortably! 🐙

Many of the frequently visited dive sites here in Ningaloo are relatively shallow, around 12-15m maximum.

Which is why we love to go on exploration missions, such as here along the outer reef!

It was SO fun to venture down to 20m at this particular site, basking in the epic topography around us & hanging out with 5+ turtles across the entire dive. 🤙🏽

Action above AND below the surface! 🐋

Did you know that we get the highest density of humpback whales in the Southern hemisphere?

During their annual 11,000km migration from Antarctica (June - November), an estimated 30,000 humpback whales visit the Ningaloo coats on their way to breeding & birthday grounds off the Kimberley!

A favourite of ours to encounter during our local reef dives!

We are lucky to see many unique ray species on the Ningaloo, and the white spotted wedgefish is always a special sighting.

We hope you all had the same view this World Ocean Day!

Diving gives us the opportunity to connect with the ocean, but with that luxury comes a responsibility to protect what we love. 🩵

And woweeee do we love our Ningaloo!

Can you ID the red mass in this photo? 👀🌹

Slide to find out! (Or keep reading...)

Photographed here is the 'sea rose' of a Spanish Dancer. This species of nudibranch lays their eggs in long ribbons or strings, covering them with a toxic mucus taken from their venomous food sources to protect the eggs from predators. The ribbons start out brightly coloured but fade as the eggs develop, a process that takes about a week!

Slide 2 is a nudibranch called Hypselodoris brycei, a species which is endemic to Western Australia!

We love our alien-looking friends. 👽

The Ningaloo is home to a number of critically endangered species, including Rhynchobatus australiae, commonly known here as the white-spotted wedgefish.

Although its distinct dorsal fin may lead you to think it's a species of shark, the wedgefish actually belongs to the ray family.

Sadly, the fins of shark-like rays (also including sawfish & guitarfish), are amongst the highest valued in the shark fin trade. This puts enormous pressure on this magnificent species from increased fishing demands throughout the Indo-Pacific.

The Ningaloo provides refuge for the white-spotted wedgefish from these threats. Although it is estimated that the species has undergone a >80% population reduction over the last 3 generations (45 years).

It's so important for us to educate one another on these incredible critically endangered species!

Located 15km off the north west cape are the deserted 🌟Muiron Islands🌟 (pronounced 'Myoo-ron’). Here you'll find stunning soft and hard coral gardens teeming with marine life, a huge variety of fish, manta rays, as well as coral walls, channels and caves, making these islands a must see during your time in Exmouth.
