Even whale sharks need to go to the dentist! Or, more accurately, the dentist comes to the whale shark.

Did you know that many animals, including hippos, crocodiles, fish, and sharks have symbiotic relationships with other animals that act as their dentists? The smaller animal cleans parasites and food bits and receives nutrients and protection.

It's a magical time in Ningaloo right now! The last of the hatchlings are making their way to the ocean and the first whale shark swims are kicking off.

From the tiniest turtles to the massive whale sharks, remember that this was their home first. Respect their space and never touch or interfere with their natural behaviours.

It's Trivia Thursday, and today, we're learning all about the octopus!

🐙 Both octopuses and octopi are acceptable plurals for octopus (although octopuses is more common).
🐙 Octopuses have THREE hearts! Two of them pump blood to its gills, and the third heart (which stops when an octopus swims) keeps circulation flowing to the organs.
🐙 2/3 of an octopus’s neurons are in its arms, meaning that its arms can taste, touch, and act without input from the brain.
🐙 Octopuses are about as smart as a three-year old child.
