⚠️ Crocodile Sighting at Inskip Point⚠️
Wildlife officers are investigating after an estimated two-metre crocodile was seen on the beach near the Sarawak camping area at Inskip Point (near Rainbow Beach).
A ranger saw the croc on the beach and photographed the tracks and markings (pictured). Wildlife officers are now conducting patrols and using drones to locate the animal.
People in the area are strongly urged to remain vigilant around the water:
👉 Stay away from the water’s edge
👉 Supervise children and pets closely:
👉 Use an esky or a similar object as a barrier between you and the water
Wildlife officers will be notifying people in camping areas near Inskip Point and install recent crocodile sight warning signs. 🗣
The animal is likely to be the same crocodile recently videoed on Coonarr Beach, near Bundaberg.
Crocodile sightings can be reported by using the QWildlife app, completing a crocodile sighting report on the DETSI website: https://environment.desi.qld.gov.au/wildlife/animals/living-with/crocodiles/report-crocodile or by calling 1300 130 372.
