Dear PHT Gawler clients,

This is Brittany McKechnie (Heinrich) from the Gawler branch posting from the glorious Viking Einar longship.

I wanted to keep you all updated on the day to day of this wonderful trip, to show you all how truly spectacular one of these journeys could be on your next holiday!

Itinerary: Rhine Getaway, 8 Day, Basel - Amsterdam (this can be done in reverse also).

Day 1 on board Viking Einar with Viking - My husband and I arrived into Basel via train nice and early in the morning and was taken straight to port to meet the longship. Immediately greeted by the wonderful cruise director, Chris! We were guided to check in, where we boarded the ship with complete ease. We are fortunate enough to have no longer required COVID testing OR masks due to further easing of restrictions with the cruise line! 😃

The longship is absolutely stunning and the crew are all incredibly attentive and knowledgeable!

Although we didn’t have a ‘destination’ on the first day, we had the option of taking a beautiful walking tour of Basel during the day, as well as having a wine and tasting on board (omgggg! 😍). - Weren’t they excited to hear we’re from the home of the Barossa 😉.

Later in the evening we had a lovely overview of the following days plan ashore in the Black Forest in Breisach, Germany. Apart from their cake, they are also famously known for where Hansel and Gretel is based!

Once sunset began between 9-9:30pm, we made our way to the sun deck to see off the Swiss locals and watch the sun set over the rolling mountains. - Such a beautiful way to end the day.

We have already made such wonderful friends across Australia and many other parts of the world. - I can’t wait to show you all more as we make our way down the Rhine!
