We had the pleasure today of taking a walk through Carnival Splendor whilst she was in Melbourne for a couple of nights for the Melbourne Cup. I must say, I was very impressed. There was a great mixture of guests with many younger & families & older so she appeals to all ages.
Great activities for kids & multi generational holidays. Lots of cabin choices with some interconnecting up to 8 people.
The two main dining rooms were lovely, a great buffet with free ice cream but you still get specialty restaurants such as Fahrenheit steak House 555, Masala Tiger Indian, Seafood Shack, a Deli, Mad Sizzle, plus Guys Burger Joint & Pizza are free. There’s bars, water slides, mini golf, live theatre, outdoor movies, even a Saturday night fever disco floor & much, much more! Here’s a few pics

I can highly recommend if you are on a Princess cruise to try and do the Chefs table. You have to put your name down as soon as you board the ship and then it is invitation only for 12 people
You have champagne and canapés, then a tour of the galley and then four courses with matching wines. The food was amazing

These are the pools on the diamond Princess the last one is near the sanctuary, which is at the front of the ship . It was full of water until today. I think they have drained it as we are heading to South Korea and are expecting to have slightly rougher seas

Authentic Vietnam Highlights
Day 7 & 8
We left Pu Luong after breakfast for a 4 hour drive back to Hanoi. This time we stayed in the French Quarter at the Lapis hotel.
A totally different experience to the Old Quarter, where there are wider, tree lined boulevards & people actually tend to mostly obey traffic laws.
There was some free time for shopping or massages before going to dinner at Koto.
This is a not for profit Restaurant which was launched by Australian/Vietnamese founder Jimmy Pham. The business was launched in 1999 and since over 1200 disadvantaged youth have graduated in hospitality.
The next morning was free until my afternoon transfer to the airport for my flight home.
I flew Singapore Airlines Premium Economy which was very comfortable.

Authentic Vietnam Highlights
Day 5 & 6 Pu Long
Travelling a few hours by bus we went higher & higher into the Mountains to the beautiful Pu Long Retreat set up high among the rice terraces. The views were jaw dropping & the pictures don’t do it justice.
The resort is quite steep with steps so it does require some level of fitness.
The rooms were very rustic but had all the amenities & every room had a balcony to soak in the stunning views. There was a Restsurant, Bar & 2 pools to cool off.
The next morning was a 6 hour down hill walk exploring the local villages of the local Muong & Thai ethnic minorities. We passed many rice terraces with farmers cultivating their rice crops.
It was very hot & humid but well worth the effort.
