Geelong Beekeepers Club Inc. The Geelong Beekeepers Club meets on the third Friday of every month. Meetings start at 8.00pm. We a Visitors are welcome. First visit is free.

Geelong Beekeepers Club aims to foster good beekeeping practice in the community, promote the interests of beekeeping and exchange information about all aspects of beekeeping. Membership is paid annually on the 1st of January. Single membership $45 and family $80.

šŸšØšŸ We are continuing surveillance following the detection of varroa mite in a beehive near Mildura.

During National Biosecurity Week, we are urging beekeepers to remain vigilant and check their hives regularly.
Call the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881 if you see or suspect Varroa mite.

If you missed the Geelong workshop, there are still places available this weekend at Colac. These workshops provide essential information about managing varroa mites to help you be prepared.

Colac and district beekeepers are invited to a Varroa Management Training Workshop this Saturday, 31 August.
This workshop is FREE and will cover monitoring and threshold surveillance actions, integrated pest management techniques, record-keeping, chemical and organic treatment options and much more.
Registrations are essential as numbers are strictly limited.

Understanding Varroa mite and its impacts
The importance of monitoring and treatment thresholds
Integrated pest management and Varroa
Chemical treatment options including organic options
Brood location, frame rotation and management
Best practice record keeping
The workshops are presented by experienced trainers and beekeepers with knowledge and practical skills in Varroa mite management
