Transformation Tuesday ✨

From 1980s gloss tile beast to serene, functional gourmet kitchen. The heart of any home, we needed to ensure the kitchen was large enough for big cookups and catered celebrations. Can confirm, it works a treat 👌🏻

Reconfiguring the layout so we now have a sort of ‘butlers nook’ was a game changer. It means you can prep food and be part of the conversation, then hide the dirty dishes away from the central island bench until you’re ready to face them (which may be the next morning - no judgement here!)

Which is your favourite part of the old kitchen? I can’t decide between the powerpoint the middle of the wall, vertical blinds or dark tile border 😆

We take our relaxation and sleep very seriously around here, so all beds have hotel quality mattresses with luxury toppers. There’s 2 kings, 2 queens and 3 singles for you to choose from - and not a single pull out sofa, bunk, trundle or camp mattress in sight!

Transformation Tuesday ✨

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a room transformation with you so today we’ve got TWO rooms!

The lovely (🤭) black 80s bathroom definitely needed to go, and conveniently it was a huge bathroom - so we spilt it into two ensuites. Win-win.

Each en-suite is a carbon copy of the other in terms of layout and footprint but of course we’ve done a little same, same but different with the look. Slightly different mirrors, vanity and lighting instantly make the two cohesive but each with their own personality.

Floor tiles are the same travertine with underfloor heating, as we have in all 5 of our bathrooms. It feels so soft and warm underfoot and definitely adds to that feeling of luxury ✨

Three cheers to the weekend!! This is our downstairs kitchenette, which is conveniently located just near the pool. Fully stocked with plasticware, champagne bucket, cocktail supplies and a bar fridge so you don’t need to go upstairs for that next drink.

From our back gate to the sand is a two minute walk. A little longer if you stop for coffee on your way. Can’t beat it!

Transformation Tuesday ✨

So many questions about our pool area in the past week! Here’s all the details…

• Pool is fiberglass and original 1980s. We emptied and repainted it with specialist paint (done by a specialist painter)
• Paving and pool coping is Arbon Limestone. It’s beautifully soft underfoot and doesn’t get hot in the sun.
• Fencing is a standard post and rail construction built by our carpenter and lined both sides with fibre cement boards. So it looks as good from the reserve area behind us as it does from inside the property 😉
• Fence colour is Lexicon Qtr
• The pool is heated all year round to 28 degrees. How? What? Doesn’t that cost a bomb?? 😱 This seems to be a BIG question you’re all asking!! So… we have an electric heat pump set on a timer synced with the filter. It’s scheduled for 5 hours per day. The game changer and reason it stays warm is the pool blanket. If you don’t currently have one, get one! Simple as that. The blanket stays on and keeps all the heat in so the pool isn’t constantly going up and down in temp. So in fact in the warmer months the heater rarely kicks in, the blanket does all the work.

The best part? Swimming on a lovely sunny winter day👌🏻

Transformation Tuesday ✨

Our dining space had a bit of an upgrade from the 1980s vibe it was previously! In addition to the flooring, windows, sheer curtains and painting we added the banquette seating at the end of the dining table area. Perfect spot to sit with a coffee in the morning and take it all in - mountains and ocean.

We headed out for a surf lesson today with the crew from and it was awesome!

Remember to book in your lesson if you’re staying with us or just in the area. Seven Mile Beach is only five minutes drive from The Shore and is the perfect spot to learn to surf. Within two hours you’ll be hooked, guaranteed 🤘🏼🤍

Transformation Tuesday ✨

It’s laundry day! (side note: does anyone actually have a designated day for doing their washing 🤷🏻‍♀️)

We decided to reduce the size of the original laundry and increase the hallway width in this area. Controversial perhaps? Let me explain…

In a holiday property you just don’t need as much laundry storage. There’s no need for underbench washing baskets or space to store sports gear. By halving the size of the laundry area we were able to create an en-suite on the other side of the wall for Bedroom 5. En-suites are so much more useful in holiday properties than laundries!

What is also useful is a mudroom area. Because the thing that guests going on a summer holiday do have is beach toys and towels and bags and umbrellas and floaties…you get the idea. So they need somewhere to put all that extra stuff to keep it out of the way of the main living areas. Enter, the mudroom!
And as a bonus, by doubling the width of the original hallway we could also create a kitchenette nook on the other side of that wall which means plasticwear can be stored near the pool. Win, win.
