Tour Guide Training on Country. Congratulations to all the participants of our recent Tour Guide Training at the Muresk Institute, near Northam. The region is definitely in good hands with these potential up and coming stars in the tourism industry, especially on Ballardong and Yued Country. A big thank you to Jan and Jeremy, from Global Gypsies, for their excellent training program across 2-days. Another awesome initiative of the Noongar Enterprise Development Support (NEDS) Project.

What a year what a way to finish for our last gathering at the York Noongar Arts & Tourism Studio by welcoming Miss MacDonald, her students, and parents from room 27 York DHS as well as Shayne Price, one of our local police officers. With 4 activities on the go including Indigi art face painting, plaiting of our colours, and learning about the Aboriginal flag, painting bookmarks, and making and learning the technique of traditional bush glue. We also spoke and taught some Noongar language. It is an absolute pleasure to share our culture. Thanks to all the lovely ladies who volunteered their time Aunty Lois, Marjorie, Julie, Jade and Joanna I could not have done it without you all. It has been my honour & pleasure to have been the Project Coordinator of our studio. This space was a place to feel comfortable and have a sense of belonging for all our community. We have proven that there is a want and a need to continue sharing our knowledge and culture.

It was great having the Minister in town on the weekend to announce a new round of grant recipients for the (RED) Regional Economic Development initiative at Coorinja Winery, Toodyay. Congratulations to the team at the Noongar Chamber of Commerce and Industry for receiving funds to run their Boya Business Solutions project. This will greatly complement the Moorditj Yaakiny project in helping new Aboriginal start-up businesses in the region to upskill themselves to compete for contracts and develop other areas on business management and administration

Some great images from York during the school holidays. A special day up on the hill for the Kulungars, supported by the York Noongar Art Pop-up Studio. As you can see the Kulungars were highly engaged by Uncle Dennis Kickett's teachings.
