Well, we're back home and had a chance to catch our breath after an amazing trip to Da Nang in Vietnam with 92 of our wonderful clients.

We based ourselves at the Novotel Premier Han River, a beautiful hotel in the heart of Da Nang. Greeted with panoramic views of the Han River and the bustling city, the central location allowed us easy access to both the golf courses and the city’s attractions. After our hot and humid days on the greens, the hotel’s pool and rooftop bar became favourite go-to spots for sunset cocktails while soaking in the views of the shimmering river and the twinkling city lights.

The welcome night held in the ballroom at Novotel kicked off the start of the week’s festivities. Guests were treated to a traditional Vietnamese meal, accompanied by an incredible traditional dance and musical show presented by talented local performers.

We were treated to five rounds of golf on spectacular courses - BRG Da Nang Norman Course, Hoiana Shores, BRG Da Nang Nicklaus Course, Montgomerie Links, and Ba Na Hills. Although all were excellent courses, Hoiana Shores, BRG Nicklaus and Ba Na Hills were the favourite three amongst the group. The local caddies were a highlight for the group as well!

Beyond the fairways, our trip was enriched by a series of cultural excursions that allowed us to connect with the history and traditions of central Vietnam.

A day trip to the Imperial City of Hue was a journey back in time to the days of Vietnam’s Nguyen Dynasty. As we explored the ancient citadel, with its grand palaces, temples, and tranquil gardens, we gained a deeper understanding of the country’s royal history. The intricate architecture and the stories of emperors and concubines brought the past to life in vivid detail.

Another unforgettable experience was our visit to Ba Na Hills, not just for its golf but also for the famous Golden Bridge and the French Village. Riding the cable car up the mountain, we were treated to panoramic views of the surrounding forests and valleys. The Golden Bridge, with its giant stone hands lifting the walkway above the clouds, was as surreal and awe-inspiring as we had imagined.

Our exploration continued with a visit to the ancient town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Walking through the lantern-lit streets, we marvelled at the blend of Chinese, Japanese, and French influences in the town’s design. The Basket Boat Tour was another highlight, offering a closer look at the lives of local fishermen. After an exhibition by the locals on how they can control and use the basket boats for both work and play, we enjoyed a peaceful basket boat ride through the coconut groves, a unique way to experience the local waterways and the traditional way of life.

We must say a special and heartfelt thanks to Hoi An, Da Nang & Hue Private Tours & Excursions with Man Nguyen for his exceptional knowledge, passion for his country, bright outlook on life in Vietnam, and his warm friendship to our group. There are not enough words to say how grateful we are to have had Man guide us around his hometown so expertly. If you are thinking of heading to Da Nang in the future, whether for a golf trip or a holiday, Man should be your first and only port of call for any sightseeing experiences, as all of our guests can attest.

Day 8 and 9 of our 2024 Vietnam Golf Tour saw us play at Montgomerie Links Golf Club designed by golf legend Colin Montgomerie a championship Links style course 🙌🏻 and the spectacular Ba Na Hills Golf Club designed by Luke Donald which was an absolute pleasure to play!!

Day 7 on our Vietnam Golf Tour saw us visit the ancient and beautiful town of Hoi An 🙌🏻

Firstly before heading to the town itself we stopped in at Tra Que Water Wheel, a small farm to table restaurant located in the heart of the famous organic herb village. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by a local family before heading over to ride The Famous Basket Boats of Vietnam: still used by Vietnamese fishermen today, the round bamboo basket boats ride was an unforgettable experience!

We then ventured down to the UNESCO listed Hoi An 'ancient town', and enjoyed a late afternoon walk visiting the Fujian (Phúc Kiến) Assembly Hall, and the historic house of Tan Ky as well as some shopping in town! We finished our day off with another delicious Vietnamese dinner and lit lanterns for well wishes and good things to come 🙌🏻

Day 5 of our 2024 Vietnam Golf Tour and we spent the day sightseeing in the Imperial City of Hue 🙌🏻🛕

We crossed the Hai Van Pass, stopped in at Lang Co Bay, walked around the imperial city remains and its Forbidden City, enjoyed an authentic Vietnamese Lunch and visited elaborate tomb of Emperor Khanh Dinh!

Day two of our 2024 Vietnam Golf Tour took us to the stunning Hoiana Shores. Nestled beside the beach and featuring bunkers sculpted into the natural landscape, it offered a true test of skill. Each hole required a unique strategy, and no two holes were the same. From arrival to departure, our guests were treated like royalty.

It was another spectacular day on the Vietnam Golf Tour! 🙌🏻

Our host courses were Coolangatta Tweed Heads - West Course, Links Hope Island, The Glades, and RACV Royal Pines. The courses were in excellent condition and a pleasure to play. Thank you to all the host course staff for their hard work and preparation 🙌🏼

We were blessed with perfect weather each day, which made for some great scoring conditions. A special mention goes to all the players who attended—without you, we could not run these events. Thank you for your attendance and support over the years!

Yesterday, we ventured to Victoria Golf Club for our last round of the trip. Host of the 2022 Australian Open, and a favourite of mine.

Another cold and windy day greeted us, but there were still some good scores, plus many birdies and even an eagle.

Then it was off to the MCG for the 2nd State of Origin match. NSW got the chocolates quite convincingly, which sets up a decider at Suncorp Stadium in a few weeks where we'll have close to 80 guests in attendance.

Round two today. There are a lot worse places to spend a few hours on a Tuesday!

Guests got to experience Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club with a round on the South Course. The course plays a little longer and flatter than the North Course, but it also gives brilliant views of each hole. And we can't fault the condition either.

The facilities at PK are second to none and if you've ever lucky enough to score yourself a round at either course, jump at it!

Off to Victoria Golf Club tomorrow for our last round, followed by State of Origin Game 2 at the MCG.

Here's a little video we put together showcasing out 2020 Gold Coast Golf Week Tournament. We are grateful that we managed to just sneak the event in as the restrictions started coming into place the following week! Thanks to all the players who joined us, we definitely made the week the success that it was, despite the horrible weather. Entries for the 2021 Gold Coast Golf Week will be open in the coming weeks so keep an eye out.
