Happy Flightie Friday! Today Travel Expert, Mel, is sharing her recent trip onboard Discovery Princess cruising the Mexican Riviera. 🛳️ 😍

🛳️ What were the highlights of your trip?
There are so many! Life onboard the ship was just as amazing as exploring the different ports along the Mexican coastline. We stopped in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Peurto Vallarta. My highlight on the ship was getting to meet the Captain & doing a Bridge tour. I also loved the 360 Dining onboard - truly the most incredible & immersive dining experience - a must-do! My highlight off the ship was doing a catamaran tour in Cabo & seeing the famous Arch (we also saw whales! 🐳 ).

🛳️ What was your favourite part of the ship?
I loved the Lotus Spa as well as "The Retreat" (an adults-only pool & bar area). There's just so much on board that you never run out of things to do. I played Bingo some days, other days I read by the pool, dined at either The World Marketplace (so many food options!) or one of the fine-dining restaurants on board. I also loved going for morning walks along the jogging track on the top deck.

🛳️ Any tips for future Princess cruisers?
I got the Princess Plus package for my cruise and it's definitely worth getting! Being able to have wifi onboard was great for keeping in contact with friends/family & share my trip on social media, plus you also get a beverage package (for drinks up to $22), unlimited juice bar, fitness classes, 2 casual dining meals plus more.

I can't wait to cruise with Princess again soon, it was such an incredible experience! I'm hoping to do the Caribbean next!

People just can't get enough of travel! 🗻 ✈️ 👣 🛳️

According to the UN's World Tourism Organisation, global travel is 99% of what it was just before the dreaded C locked down the world in early 2020.

Its 2024 year-in-review data says not only has travel bounced back, but it's likely that global tourism will keep rising well into 2025. 📈

Europe saw the most visitors in 2024 with 747 million, followed by Asia/Pacific (316 million), the Americas (213 million) and the Middle East (74 million).

The biggest 12-month gains, however, went to smaller countries like Qatar which enjoyed a 137% increase, El Salvador (+81%) and Albania (+80%).

Happy Flightie Friday! Today, our Round The World Experts Team Leader, Lily, is sharing her 3-week early summer adventure in Alberta and British Columbia!

🐻 What were the highlights of your trip?
It was my first time ever visiting Canada! The highlight for me was driving the Icefield Parkway between Banff and Jasper. I can't really put into words how grand and beautiful the mountains are and how crazy the colours of the lakes turn when the snow melts. Photos really don't do it justice, so you'll just have to get there yourself! This road also crosses through three national parks, passing places like Emerald Lake, Lake Louise, Peyto Lake and Athabasca Glacier. The wildlife viewing is also out of this world! Bear spotting anyone?

⛷️ If you were to go back, what else would you do?
I would love to go back in winter to ski! Canada can be such a different holiday depending on the season that you visit, and both winter and summer have so many different experiences to offer!

⛰️ Any tips for first-time travellers to this destination?
Prebook the activities and experiences that are on your bucket list, especially in summer. Banff sees approximately four million tourists a year and three million of those visit in summertime due to the beautiful weather and scenery!

A new report from Skift Research observes that people are choosing to take longer holidays. 📆 🏖️

Skift's report is calling 2025 "the year of long getaways" as travellers opt for holidays with a slower pace where they can enjoy a longer, more immersive experience.

Happy Flightie Friday! Today, our travel consultant, Matt, is sharing his Italian adventure. The 11-day trip included taking in the sights of Rome, Venice, Assisi and more!

🇮🇹 What were the highlights of your trip?
Venice was my favourite part of the trip. Taking a gondola ride, while very touristy, was beyond charming and fun. Doge’s Palace was beautiful — well worth the visit.

🇮🇹 If you were to go back to Italy, what else would you do?
I’d go back to San Gimignano to explore more of the town and for gelato 🍨 Gusti Del Giorno has, hands down, the best gelato I’ve ever had!

🇮🇹 Any tips for first-time travellers to this destination?
Public transportation is easy to use and very efficient. Be sure to prebook your city-to-city trips on the high-speed rail where possible to cut down time on getting around. This will allow you to spend a few extra hours enjoying the cities.

One of our favourite things about travel? All those crazy rumours and tales that quickly become "fact" 🤥 One of the biggest - literally - is the popular myth that the Great Wall of China is the only man-made structure that can be seen from space. 🛰️

👀 But we're here to unveil the truth...

🇨🇳 While China's 13,170-mile-long fortifications CAN be seen from space with the help of a telescope or high-power camera lens, the reality is it can't be seen with the naked eye. This is because the human eye just isn't equipped to discern objects that small/far away.

China's first astronaut, Yang Liwei, confirmed this while orbiting the planet 14 times in October 2003 🧑‍🚀 He said: "The Earth looked very beautiful from space, but I did not see our Great Wall."

✨ 🌌 So, next time you're planning a trip to the moon or ISS (we wish!), know that you'll be seeing plenty of stars, debris and space dust, but not China's most famous landmark. ✨ 🌌
