AIR NEW ZEALAND SETS ROLL OUT DATE FOR LONG AWAITED BUNK-BEDS IN ECONOMY CLASS

The airline’s new Dreamliners, due to arrive in 2024, will be geared toward giving passengers good quality sleep regardless of their cabin class with a new Business Premier Luxe seat and Skynest– the world’s first sleep pods in the sky for economy travellers.

South Africa drops PCR testing for fully vaccinated travellers
A welcome boost for African tourism.

International travellers entering South Africa through the various ports of entry will still require proof of vaccination.

The wearing of masks will no longer be required when one is outdoors in a public area. However, wearing masks is required when one is indoors such as at a mall, gallery, restaurant and public transport etc.

Airlines Demand End To Unvaccinated Passenger Hotel Quarantine

A group representing international airlines has urged to end the mandated 14-day quarantine for unvaccinated travellers, calling the procedure “redundant.”

The Board of Airline Representatives of Australia (BARA), which represents 34 airlines that comprise up 90% of Australia’s international flights, has urged the government to “evaluate the need” for hotel quarantine on capped unvaccinated arrivals.

According to BARA, with less than 100 unvaccinated visitors every day, home quarantine is a more appropriate and efficient use of resources.

“Quarantining this small cohort of passengers, who are then released into a community with COVID widely circulating, is not consistent with the stated rationale of hotel quarantine,” the organisation said in a statement.

“If hotel quarantine were replaced with alternative measures, such as a period of home self-isolation and required testing, it would free up health and other resources that could be better deployed in supporting the current wave of infections within communities.”

It is definitely the time to normalise arrival procedures for all passengers and free up resources for more important activities!!

Queensland has scrapped the requirement to test interstate travellers on day five of their arrival.

Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said that just six per cent of the state's new positive cases have come from the day five tests, meaning they are no longer "necessary". "That means immediately, starting from now," she said.

Visitors will still be required to tick yes on the the form that says they will get a test on day five, but the test won't be required.

Queensland opens up home quarantine applications from today.🤩

“So now we’ll be welcoming people from hotspots who are fully vaccinated to come into Queensland and home quarantine for 14 days if they produce that negative test,” Ms Palaszczuk told reporters

Anyone arriving from areas not classified as hotspots will face no restrictions or quarantine requirements — as long as they haven’t been to a hotspot in the 14 days prior to arrival.

Applicants don’t need to be Queensland residents with home quarantine available to anyone, including people moving to the state.

“For those people who have purchased properties to come and live in paradise,” she said.

“I mean have a look how beautiful the Gold Coast is here today.”

QANTAS AND VIRGIN PUT BALI FLIGHTS BACK ON THE MENU🛰✈

Both airlines have pencilled in resumption dates for flights between Bali and Australia alongside a few more international destinations in the Pacific region, including Thailand, the Philippines, Fiji and even South Africa.

Qantas’ website shows flights available between Sydney and Denpasar, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila and Johannesburg from 27 March, and Melbourne and Denpasar on 28 March.

Virgin confirmed it would begin flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Denpasar on 27 March, and would resume services to New Zealand early next year.

The airline said it has also scheduled Sydney-Nadi and Brisbane-Nadi flights from 23 December this year, and Melbourne-Nadi flights from 24 December, with tickets starting at $289.

Qantas announced earlier this month it planned to resume flights between Sydney and Fiji on 19 December alongside 12 other international routes it plans to kick off from December 18, including London and Los Angeles.

The news follows the federal government’s insistence that international travel will be possible for Australians by Christmas “at the latest”. 😀✈

ScoMo's shiny new roadmap to get Australia "back to normal" includes shortened quarantine periods and unrestricted international travel for vaccinated Aussies.

The weekly intake figure of inbound arrivals will temporarily go from 6,370 to 3,185 in the coming weeks as part of a new four-phase ‘pathway out ’.

He also said all restrictions on outbound travel would be lifted for vaccinated people once a certain portion of the population has received the required doses of the jab, which could eventuate by the end of this year.

“Once we get to a position of the post-vaccination phase, I think we’ll have made a quantum leap in where we are now. It’s not the number of cases that matters then,” Morrison said.

The first phase, which we are in now, is focused on suppressing the virus to give Australia the opportunity to get vaccinated.

Morrison said the national cabinet agreed that during this phase lockdowns will now only be used as a last resort.

He also said that vaccinated Aussies returning from overseas could be quarantining at home rather than shelling out for hotel quarantine during this phase, with quarantine periods expected to halve.

Once the country reaches a yet-to-be-determined threshold of vaccination, the “post-vaccination” phase will be triggered, vaccinated residents will benefit from relaxed restrictions around travel and the inbound passenger caps will be restored, with a larger cap introduced for vaccinated travellers.

Phase three will be entered into once fatality and hospitalisation rates are more like that of “the flu”, and will see all outbound travel restrictions lifted for vaccinated people and an extended trans-Tasman travel bubble to include countries like Singapore and the Pacific.

Morrison said that by phase four, Australia will be “completely back to normal”.

Aussies may soon be able to sit with their pets on flights after the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s changes to general flight and operating rules come into effect in December.

From 2 December, responsibility for allowing pets in the cabin would be passed to the pilot-in-command, with a few general guidelines to be observed, the Australian reported.

When giving permission, you may need to consider the type of animal and how it is carried, contained and restrained; its reaction to noise and being out of its natural environment; nuisance to other passengers; distraction to flight crew; and how excrement or fluids will be contained,” the new CASA rules state.

“A large animal should always be secured so as not to damage or affect the balance of the aircraft in flight. A small or medium-sized animal carried in the cabin would normally need as a minimum to be restrained during takeoff and landing and in turbulence.”

Qantas and Jetstar have already ruled out allowing pets in the cabin, but Virgin Australia is leaving the door open.

Many American and European carriers allow pets in the cabin of domestic and international flights, but pets in Australia are restricted to travelling in the cargo hold of aircraft.

So you get your passport stamped.

Other important landmarks also offer stamps and they all look cute in your passport... The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum in Japan, the Antarctic Heritage, Easter Island... And Machu Picchu.

Aussies need to be very vigilant about what goes in our passports, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade advising that the “alteration or tampering” of passports can stop people from travelling.

If you’re travelling to the United States, you must only have “foreign countries place stamps or make notations or additions to this passport”.

Oh, and keep the kids away from your important documents. A woman was denied entry to Taiwan after her daughter added a Hello Kitty stamp to her passport...
