✈️ Airlines May Face New Refund Obligations Under Proposed Aviation Customer Rights Charter ✈️

The Federal Government's draft Aviation Customer Rights Charter could revolutionize passenger protections in Australia! Here's what you need to know:

✅ Full Refunds for Long Delays: If a flight is delayed by more than 3 hours due to reasons within the airline's control, passengers can cancel and receive a full refund in their original payment method — whether cash, credit, or reward points. Travel vouchers remain an option for those who prefer them.

✅ Free Rebooking: Airlines must rebook passengers at no extra cost, either on their flights or with an alternative carrier.

✅ Accommodation & Essentials Covered: For overnight delays, airlines would provide accommodation, transfers, meal vouchers, and lounge access.

✅ Timely Refunds: Cancelled flights must be refunded within 14 days, covering the full fare and all additional charges (like baggage fees, pre-purchased meals, and extra legroom).

✅ Amenities for Onboard Delays: Passengers delayed on the tarmac for more than an hour would be entitled to refreshments, regular updates, and other amenities.
