This is a quick edit of some drone aerials I shot for a production company NHNZ (Natural History New Zealand) out at Lord Howe Island and Ball’s Pyramid. Lord Howe is 600km off Port Macquarie and is a World Heritage Site. The project was 'Big Pacific Ep.Mysterious' and has just aired on PBS in the U.S. Lord Howe is an incredible place and part of the story was the survival of the Dryococelus australis, (Nicole Thornton I included this for you) commonly known as the Lord Howe Island stick insect, tree lobster or phasmid. It was thought to be extinct around 1920 and was rediscovered on Ball’s Pyramid in 2001. It was a great opportunity to spend a week at a World Heritage site and a day out flying the drone at Ball’s Pyramid. The amount of bird life and sea life out there is incredible. Looking up to the top of the pyramid the sky is thick with birds of all sizes and shapes, some of which are not surprisingly pretty aggressive towards a drone. If you have a chance to go to Lord Howe try and get out to Ball’s Pyramid as well. Hope you like the video. http://www.pbs.org/program/big-pacific/
