With students returning to school this week, please be aware of school buses stopping and starting along our roads, and children will bearound.

Lights flash on buses to warn motorists that buses are picking up and dropping off children.

You must slow down to 40km/h when overtaking or passing a bus displaying flashing lights, unless a lower speed limit applies.

You can help keep children safe by:

• Sticking to the speed limit and following the road rules in school zones

• Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing, unless a lower speed limit applies

• Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes

• Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic.

The 2025 School Year is here!

Welcome back for another year of schooling.

To ensure a smooth transition back to school for us all, I thought it would be worthwhile reaching out, touching base and passing on any relevant information you may need.

ALL our services resume tomorrow, Friday 31st of January 2025, operating as per the timetables and routes utilised in 2024.

Like the beginning of every new school year, Transport for NSW does provide all students a 'grace period', allowing time for all applications to be completed and submitted for the consideration for subsidised travel. This period will be in place until the 4th of March 2025. After this time, those who do not hold a current approved registration will be required to pay the $2 fare per trip.

Therefore, we do encourage you all to jump online and start this process as soon as possible. Remembering an application will be needed for ALL new students (commencing Kindy, changing service providers), as well as those students changing schools (moving from year 6 to year 7 simply moving schools) or those have had a change in circumstances (including a change in address, progressing from year 2 to year 3, had a change in custody arrangements etc).

Our drivers and our administration staff will keep an eye on who is accessing and travelling on our services, and should we need anything further from you we will contact you to advise.

Throughout the next few weeks do keep an eye out for further information regarding school student behaviour, code of conduct, bus safety measures and guidelines as well as other relevant information we would like to share with you all.

Dear parents/guardians of students who travel on our school services that pick up and drop off at the railway station,

We have received notification of a change of bus stop location during the National Cherry Festival.

From Wednesday 27th November to Friday 29th November 2024, all students who travel on our services to Murringo Public School and Maimuru Public school will be picked up from

* Lynch Street opposite the fire station *

Pick up and drop off times will remain the same (with some leeway for the extra traffic.

Please allow yourselves a little extra time to get to this stop in the mornings, as our services will depart at the same time as normal, and please take extra care around the stop, as it will be quite congested with other school buses and more traffic in town for the fesitval

Or a student moving from 2nd to 3rd grade, or from primary to high school?

Now is the time to apply for free school bus travel.

Applications need to be completed online using the following link

This application does need to be completed on a laptop or desktop computer, as the site does have some glitches when completed on a phone or tablet.

Commons Road - Murringo Public School students are expected to be back at the young railway station at 5-5.15pm approximately and carrington park at few minutes after.
