SOUTHBOUND SHUTTLE BUS!

Since the GPT opened, the "GPT Express" shuttle bus has been gallantly servicing the GPT from South to North, enabling you to walk from North to South - the way the trail was intended and limited.

With Parks Victoria's update to their booking system and the direction to travel restriction lifted, we've seen an increase in hikers walking 'the wrong way' (come on folks, walking north is uphill!) and have been battling our own booking system to make this work - well.

When booking your shuttle you'll now find an extra step in the process, pick AM or PM departure, then select your direction of travel before your pickup location.

We hope this is useful to some of you because we've spent a huge amount of hours trying to squeeze it into our booking system and more data entry than you could possibly imagine!

On this day in 1984, the Gariwerd Landscape was finally and formally acknowledged as a significant place worthy of protection and care by being declared a National Park.

While the National Park is quite young, the landscape as we see it is over 42 million years old and has been home to the Jadawadjali and Djab Wurrung peoples for more than 22,000 years.

This enduring landscape is one of the most spectacular in the world with its rich cultural history, unique geology and incredible biodiversity. Well worth the protection of the National Park status.

We feel privileged to be here, sharing experiences within the landscape and being part of the current and future generations that support that protection.

Thank you to Parks Victoria and all who were involved with this process 40 years ago and for all the work you do to manage this complex and incredible landscape now.

Waterfall Season is nearing and boy are we excited! 💦💦

🥾 Boot cleaning stations are so important throughout the park. They are there to help stop the spread of Cinnamon Fungus, a microscopic, soil-borne disease-causing organism. It destroys plant root systems causing plants to die through lack of water and nutrients. That's something we definitely don't want to see within the National Park. So boot-scoot your way through these handy machines sprinkled along the trail 🥾

"Taipan Wall", so named because of its serpentine markings, is one of the most iconic natural features in the Northern Grampians - an astonishing tidal wave of sandstone. Widely considered to be the best single crag in Australia, Taipan Wall is a 200m long, overhanging wall reaching up to 60 metres high, which positively glows a stunning orange in the evening sunshine. Follow the Mount Stapylton Walk to reach this beauty.
