Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park CLOSED - CATASTROPHIC Fire Danger Day

Wednesday 28th February has been declared Catastrophic Fire Danger in the Wimmera Fire District.
This extends from midnight tonight (Tuesday 27th Feb) until midnight tomorrow night (Wednesday 28th).
This includes a Total Fire Ban for this declared period.

Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park will be closed to all visitors.

Take Action Now: To aid your survival, park visitors to Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park will need to enact their fire plans now.
Conditions tomorrow will be extremely hot, dry and windy. If a fire starts and takes hold, it will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving. Spot fires could start, move quickly and come from many directions. These are the most dangerous conditions for a fire. Your life may depend on the decisions you make, even before there is a fire. Waiting until you see smoke is far too late to make plans to leave.

Our Story

Roos with a View is a comfortable family home (not a hotel), which is an easy 10 minute walk to the local Halls Gap Hotel (pub if you come from the UK) and 3km from Halls Gap centre. Situated on a 1.5 acre bush block it is the ideal place to watch the passing wildlife in the comfort of a well-equipped 3 bedroom house. First and second bedrooms each contain a queen-sized bed, the third bedroom contains 2 single beds (sleeps 6 in total). There is also a portacot and high chair available. There is a fully equipped kitchen and tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits are supplied. With reverse cycle air-conditioning in the lounge, wood-fire (with fire screen) and electric blankets on all the beds the house is well-equipped for both hot and cold weather. Please note that although the bedrooms all have ceiling fans, they are not air-conditioned - this is a family home not a hotel. There is a deck at the back of the house and veranda at the front, providing plenty of outdoor options too. Facilities include: under cover parking, gas BBQ, Digital TV and DVD player, CD player, CDs, games, books and magazines, binoculars, Simpson & Day bird book, ceiling fans, laundry, spa bath, fire wood and linen (excluding portacot) supplied. It is a sustainable home with solar panels on the roof and a heat pump electric water system, which means if guests drain all 300 lt of hot water they will need to wait a few hours for the next hot shower i.e. we do not have instantaneous gas hot water.

Tariff varies depending on time of year and number of guests, please call or email for a quote.
