The sweetest Valentine’s Day gift? Even more of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park is open and welcoming visitors. As of midday today, 14 February, key sites across the park have reopened:

🤎 Southern Grampians: Areas of the Southern Grampians National Park, including Mount Abrupt, Mount Sturgeon and The Piccaninny for day hikes.

🤎 Northern Grampians: MacKenzie Falls, Reeds Lookout and Boroka Lookout, plus day hiking trails around Mount Stapylton, Hollow Mountain, Beehive Falls and Mount Difficult. These sites join the Wonderland walking tracks near Halls Gap, which have already been open.

Roads including Roses Gap and Mt Victory roads have opened to allow access between these iconic locations.

Walks are open near Halls Gap and most of Wonderland Range within the Grampians National Park – including the Pinnacle (either from Halls Gap or Wonderland Car Park), Venus Baths, Grand Canyon Loop, Chatauqua Peak, Clematis Falls and Boronia Peak. ⁠

Call into Brambuk the National Park and Cultural Centre in Halls Gap for more information on what's open.

While some areas are still off-limits, there’s no shortage of incredible places to explore. Show your support for the region by visiting the welcoming towns of Halls Gap, Pomonal, Stawell, Ararat, Horsham, St Arnaud and Dunkeld, each offering history, culture and extraordinary dining. Or, for breathtaking views take the walk to the summit at Mt Arapiles-Tooan State Park near Natimuk.⁠

Take a moment to explore the stunning natural attractions, from The Pinnacle and Venus Baths to Grand Canyon, Chatauqua Peak, Boronia Peak and a hike up Mount Sturgeon (Wurgarri), Mount Abrupt (Mud-Dadjug) or the Piccaninny (Bainggug) affords a great view of the entire Southern Grampians range.

We’re thrilled to share the wonderful news that as of 9am today, 10 January, the northern and southern ends of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park will reopen to visitors! 

You’ll once again be able to experience the magic of Mackenzie Falls, take in the views from Boroka Lookout and visit Venus Baths and more in the north. Down south, the stunning trails of Mount Abrupt and Mount Sturgeon are also ready to explore.

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the extraordinary work of our firefighters and emergency team. Thank you.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our firefighters and emergency teams, the bushfire in the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park is now contained. We’re thrilled to announce that Halls Gap will reopen to visitors from 10am tomorrow, 8 January, with the northern and southern sections of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park, reopening on Friday, 10th January 2025. Visitors will once again have access to iconic attractions such as MacKenzie Falls, Boroka Lookout, Mt Abrupt (Mud-Dadjug), Mt Sturgeon (Wurgarri), Piccaninny (Baingugg) and Mount Zero which remain as breathtaking as ever.

As our wonderful operators reopen their doors and get back on their feet, we encourage everyone to show patience, love and support. These local legends can’t wait to welcome you back to the region they call home as soon as tomorrow!
