The best Australian folk and country music hits the road and heads to Brunswick this August!

From the creators of Australia’s largest Folk Festival Woodford Folk Festival – the Festival of Small Halls Australia is a quirky touring festival that travels to small communities in Australia.

On the 22 August, the heritage-listed Brunswick Town Hall will come alive with the sounds of New Zealand indie-pop sensation Jed Parsons one of NZ’s finest singer-songwriters.

He'll be joined by an award-winning Aussie songwriter Alana Wilkinson, who has emerged as one of the most loved artists on the Australian scene. Successful in her own right, Alana has also made a name for herself backing the likes of Ben Lee, Daryl Braithwaite, Tim Freedman, F***y Lumsden, Clare Bowditch and Kav Temperly.

Dinner and a show? Yep, some of our most locally-loved food vans will be along for the ride! You can choose from the likes of Fortune Supplies, Mama Jo's, Pride of India, Tayib Delicious Food and The Charcoal Church!

Megan - who dreamed the Brugan Brewery into life alongside her husband Bruce - will be at our stall with a range of their delicious boutique beers. They have a delicious array of lagers, ales, IPA's and a tasty vanilla porter. We can personally vouch for the Kolsch!

Look's like the secret is out: Perth is OK knows that the Harvey Region is where it's at for a great winter escape!

They're particularly taken with our Brunswick to Wokalup Ale Cycling Trail; which is a 24km that starts at the Brunswick Tavern and finishes at Wokalup Tavern (both over a century old). While you're at the Wokie (as locals call it) satisfy your taste buds at the Brugan Brewery, which is at the same site.

Local favourite Melville Park Farm & Friends Shop also gets a much-deserved mention. I challenge you to find a more stunning farm shop than this 1880's gem (open Saturday morning's).

If this is enough to tempt you down for the weekend, they've cottoned on to the beauty of Bluehills Farmstay Harvey Accommodation; where you can cuddle up with a book and a can't-beat-it-view of the Harvey Dam.

🌬 Grab your warm blankets - it's the first day of Makuru! 🌧

Makuru is the coldest and wettest of the six Noongar seasons, and stretches over June and July. This is where we see the temperatures dropping and storms and gales becoming more frequent.

Traditionally, this was when the Noongar people would head inland and move away from the cold winds coming off the sea.

Makuru is also known as the Fertility Season, as animals begin pairing up for breeding season. You might notice the wardongs (ravens) flying together, and an increase in mali (black swans) on our waterways. Notice the stunning blue and purple blooms that will decorate our landscapes across this season.
