From 1pm to 4pm, the Terrace Bar will host top gin suppliers, offering a curated selection of gins to sample and enjoy.

GET WET - RECYCLING REGATTA 💧
Experience a day of water fun while celebrating recycling and sustainability at the inaugural Harvey Rotary Recycling Regatta this Sunday, 10 November 2024.

Head to the Dr Peter Topham Memorial Swimming Pool in Harvey, witness the antics or take up the team challenge and build a boat using only recyclable drink containers and coloured gaffa-type tape, and then put it to the test in a thrilling challenge.

This ethereal sunrise, breaking over a foggy forest, features as the image for January in our 2025 Australian Weather Calendar.

It was captured by Bernard Shaw with a drone in Western Australia's south-west region near Harvey.

Although a seasoned professional photographer, Bernard was "blown away" by what he saw on the drone's monitor screen.

"I told my business partner, get over here now, check out these shots," he said.

"We were going through all the shots, just going, 'oh my God, this is once-in-a-lifetime stuff'. It almost looked fake."

For fog to form, the air temperature must cool to the dew-point temperature - the temperature at which condensation occurs. Once this happens, the invisible water vapour that surrounds us condenses into tiny water droplets - these form fog.

On the morning this photo was captured, Bureau data show the temperature and dew point dropped to around 3°C, signifying close to 100% relative humidity.

Bernard first took up photography as a teen, when he would borrow filming equipment from his high school to film videos of his friends skateboarding.

That interest became a vocation, with Bernard and a friend now running a photography business together for 20 years.

"Every day is shooting something different," he said. "It could be corporate headshots, down a gorge on a mine site — and we're always trying to get that amazing shot."

The farm-to-plate tour, which forms part of the Lost & Found Festival 2024, includes a walkthrough of the Halls Family Dairy to view Australia’s only herd of purebred Normandie cows and see the diary in action.
