Costa Rica is one of my favourite destinations with beautiful beaches, jungles teeming with wildlife, amazing sunsets, stunning resorts, world-best coffee (sorry Dominican Republic) and as a country an ethos unlike any other.

A country with no army, the home of the zip-line and
58 wildlife rescue centres.

I was fortunate to visit the
Diamanté Eco Adventure Park and hear about some of the amazing work they do taking care of animals unable to be rehabilitated into their natural environment.

Costa Rica should be on everyone’s must visit list.

I highly recommend spending time in Central Park.

A “lap” of the park on foot, bicycle or horse drawn carriage provides a wonderful perspective.

Amazingly diverse through the seasons.

Maybe lunch at The Loeb Boathouse after a leisurely row on the lake? Reservations essential.

Or a little further up the park are Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn and Jackie Onassis Reservoir.

And when it has snowed, you’ll often see locals sledding down the gentle hills.

I know the best hotels close to the Park with easy access to all the city has to offer.

One of my favourite places in Asia - off the beaten track is Luang Prabang in Laos.
A beautiful town on the banks of the mighty Mekong River.

I highly recommend:
an early start one morning to participate in monks accepting food offerings at sunrise in a Laotian Buddhist ritual;
and making the time to see Kuang Xi Falls.
