Do you think this could be done in Australia? Doubtful. Perhaps dropping to 15knots around the bay in whale season would give the whales more time to duck out of the way…

Starting Friday, November 1, most vessels 65 feet or longer must slow to 10 knots or less in North Atlantic right whale Seasonal Management Areas from Rhode Island to Georgia. These areas are designed to protect whales in areas where they are migrating and calving. An additional area covering southern Georgia and northern Florida will activate November 15.

Remember: North Atlantic right whales spend a lot of time at the surface, but can be hard to see—the risk is especially high for moms with newborn calves. This tour will run every Thursday to enjoy the perfect blend of Maryborough history, markets and relaxation on a fabulous round trip including a delightful cruise along the mighty Mary River and through the Great Sandy Strait on the luxury catamaran Freedom.
