After picking up the vehicle at Launceston airport I had a nice easy run back to Glenorchy..
Had a short stopover in Campbell Town & saw this, it had just pulled out of the service station??

A tractor, with things on top of its roof, towing a large van with a small plane on top..🤔😮..does anyone know anything as to what, where, how come??

Saturday - on the road, on the ferry..overseas travel day.
9am pick-ups, into Battery Point, onto Kettering, drive onto the ferry & arrive on Bruny Island..for the day.
Stop & go, to & from various locations...lunch at Pennicott Tours Restaurant.. delicious!!

Followed with afternoon tea at Get Shucked Oysters...😮🦪🦪
Chinese folk 💕 oysters!!
We're all happy....very happy to easily spot & take up close photos of the albino wallaby...he just stood there...posing! 😀

Ohh what a day...no complaints..it was a long day lots of driving, which I always enjoy...

Picked guests up early, out to Seven Mile Beach, into Richmond, onto Mt Field National Park, lunch there too, then Mona, up to Rosny Hill Lookout, into the city for drop off..back to depot..give bus a sweep & mop out..home.. everyone happy, safe & sound..🙏😊
Now.. it's glass of wine time!🍷Next.. what's for dinner..🤔
Out with group again tomorrow..😍

Public Announcement Date for Half Price Fares

What are the new fares for child/student passengers?

From 1 June 2024 to 30 June 2025, public transport bus and ferry fares will be halved. This reduction applies to all public buses and fare-paying school buses, as well as the River Derwent ferry service. It applies to every fare type (non-urban, urban, concession and child/student fares).

For students travelling on public buses, fare-paying school buses and ferries, the full student fare will be reduced from $2.00 to $1.00.

Students will also continue to receive a 20% discount when using a smartcard or purchasing a 10-trip ticket. This reduces the smartcard fare from $1.60 to $0.80 per trip and the cost of a 10-trip ticket from $16.00 to $8.00.
What happens with 10-trip school bus tickets purchased before 1 June 2024?

10-trip bus tickets purchased before the half price fare period are still valid after June 1, and can be used at any time during the half price fare period.

After June 1, 10-trip bus tickets will be half price, so please consider this when purchasing bus tickets in the lead up to half price fare period. Refunds will not be available for passengers who pre-purchase 10-trip tickets at the higher rate and redeem them after 1 June 2024 when half-price fares are in effect.

The bus prices have been halved, which is exceptionally good news, what remains consistent, is the high priority service, Coal River Coaches' drivers deliver, in transporting your children to and from school. 🥰 See you on the bus! 🚌

An early morning look at progressive changes happening on the Granton side of the roadworks/bridgeworks with the new Bridgewater bridge construction....
Huge slabs of cement walling were delivered & upon being fitted, they become a sound barrier wall...

The roundabout is almost completed together with the new & permanent linked roadways ...

Thursday - a trip overseas..⛴️, no passport needed...to Bruny Island.

I took a group of retired ex servicemen & women on a history trip down memory lane, although it was actually, they took me, it was my first time to visit a couple of these locations...😱😱
I'll post the video seperately...FB business pages allow only either photos or a video clip..

A lovely day..a friendly group of men & women who have very interesting stories...

They clean!!
Buses, vans & the newer Klugers & Rav4's..👏👏

Inside & outside, it's a constant job, it's gives a sense of pride & achievement having good looking clean buses out on the roads, whether doing school runs, out on tour or local jobs..
Being s***k & span gets noticed!! 😍👏🚌🚍

Today - Thursday, 11th April is the end of the first term of school!
Lots more children will be out & about.

Here at Coal River Coaches, we do many am/pm school runs & support Road Safety every single day of the year.
We also note, as May is fast approaching...so too, is National Road Safety Week.

Sadly, each year approximately 1200 people loose their life on Australian roads, with another 44,000 people being seriously injured.

In Tasmania last year 35 loved ones lost their life to a road accident & another 300 were seriously injured.

Trauma & heartbreak has long term impact.
Please, take all safety procedures into consideration... keep yourself & others safe..🙏

Saturday - a tour day overseas to Bruny Island. ⛴️🏝️💙
My five guests were lovely, & very good with time frames, only to discover one couple originate from Switzerland, being the home of those precision Switz watches...always on time!!

All our tour stops were enjoyed..we loved the indulgence of honey icecream at the Honey Pot

One of the stops Bligh Museum, Adventure Bay is so interesting, having an abundance of the photos, history & artifacts.
I suggest, allowing extra time for this informative stop.

I learnt something new, from one of the guests, whom has a shack on Bruny Island...
there's "The Fridge"!

In the Fridge (only used for storage)... there's freshly baked bread varieties, every day....it works on the honesty box system or payment can be made into provided bank account details from the Baker...
the freshly baked bread is supplied at three different times during the day! How good is that!!

Bruny Island is always loved, there's so much to see, to taste & to discover.

Monday - fun day & a lot of exercise!!

Myself driving one smaller coach & Geoff driving similar, we took 2x groups from the massive BIG Silverseas cruise ship to Maydena, for the day.

We alternated between the two activities...

First up with me & my group was the Railtrack Riders .
It's fantastic. Via pedal power (with a little help from a quad bike, when a gentle push along the track, is needed) we travelled along a disused rail track, once used for the cartage of logs. At the end of the line, we were given info on the past, that impacted the community of yesteryear. 👏👏👏

After lunch, we drove along the Junee Cave road & walked the track in, under the stunningly beautiful canopy of the rainforest...to the entrance of Junee Cave...

Junee Cave is part of a large cave system stretching 30kms through 295 caves including NIGGLY CAVE, being the DEEPEST CAVE IN AUSTRALIA!!
All surrounding Mt Field National Park/Maydena..
Wowsers!!!

The depth of Junee Cave is 375mtrs = approx a 37floor apartment building!!

Last Friday - took a tour group to Pt Arthur..I didn't tour around the 146ha site with them...it's a place of beauty (now) that is described as " best surviving example of large-scale convict transportation".

Forced transportation..
forced hard labour..a machine to grind rogues honest!! For some it achieved results, for many others it didn't!!😥

Pt Arthur commenced in 1830, the convicts built their own prison, by 1846 - over 3,500 men were incarcerated on the Tasman Peninsula.

History, hardships & many that never left Pt Arthur..😥😢
It's a place that attracts locals & worldwide visitors....
