Ancient and enduring, the Dharawal (cabbage tree palm) – Livistona australis – is a living testament to the heritage of the Illawarra coast, especially near Kiama. Indigenous stories tell of ancestors bringing this sacred tree to Lake Illawarra, with its leaves, trunk, and new growth used for food, medicine, and shelter.

These resilient trees, some as old as 200 years, still stand proudly across local farms and landscapes, woven into the fabric of the land and history.

We're very lucky Cedar Springs has many of these special trees scattered accross our paddocks, acting as a beautiful reminder that nature and history are deeply intertwined here. 🌴
