Big meeting today with the four of us.
Mike, Adam, Tim & I.
Finally starting to get the businesses to work together.
Lots of little hiccups along the way, but we are getting there

Bumped into an ex student at Bunnings today.
After 20yrs, there are a lot of you out there ๐Ÿ˜€
Unfortunately he advised that he`d been in an accident some time ago & hadn't ridden for a while.
The sad reality of what we do.
He said he`d been cleaned up by a car not giving way to him on his left. ๐Ÿคฌ
Now this happens all too regularly.
The driver looks right first, then pulls out, then looks left after he's already begun to move.
Always, Always, always look for that driver`s face & expect the worst.
Thankfully he`s Ok now.
Looking, looking, looking

Great ride by Klaudia today.
Only her second lesson.
She's all of about 160cm & 45kgs, but still happy to give it a go. While the rain held off, the wind was quite strong & blustery. I was contemplating cancelling, but she handled it so well, we persevered. Got through the bits we needed & she still had a huge grin on her face at the end. ๐Ÿ˜
Well Done.

Two test, two passes at Butler today.
First up Jack doing his R class.
Jack does a lot of riding, commuting to the airport at various hours, FIFO, so he could well & truly ride. But he was still happy to get some lessons in with us. One, for the dreaded nerves, & two, he understood you can Always improve your skills.
His ride today with me, after a few small tweaks, was spot on. So we lifted the bar & advised we didnโ€™t just want a pass, we wanted a clean sheet ๐Ÿ˜‰
And Jack delivered.
Not a mark on the page.
Brilliant effort mate.
Still happy with his trusty V Storm, but wanted to get the test out of the anyway. Then, when he is ready to upgrade, itโ€™s all done ๐Ÿ‘
Then Beau doing his R/E.
Beau is a very capable off road rider, with a number of dirt bikes, but also has a LAMS Triumph Street Triple.
After doing a lesson with Tim some time ago, so he knew what to practice, he decided to use our bike for the test. Got another lesson in with Adam, as he needed a Saturday, then did the test with me. So heโ€™s seen all of us ๐Ÿ˜
While a great rider, still some dirt bike habits that needed resolving.
Otherwise, a very good ride.
Again, inconsistent head checks, but still a good pass.
Enjoy that Triumph mate.
A very underrated bike.

Had a lesson with a new student today.
As he could already ride, he thought he`d have a shot at the test without any lessons, & failed.
So next time, he booked a lesson in before his test with another company, & failed.
So he thought he`d better try something different, & after some research, came across us.
Very happy after our ride today. Advised that he had probably only been given less than 1/4 of the information he received off us today. It all made sense, & it made him feel not only much more comfortable with the test process, but also more competent on the bike.
While there are a number of companies supplying training, be careful who you choose to get the best value & results for your investment.
We have over 20yrs of training experience, & will Always make your safety our priority.

Well done to Brodie on his R/E pass at Butler on Thursday.
While Brodie had done a lot of riding, most of it was off road, so he was quite surprised at how much there was to learn riding in traffic.
We find it quite regularly. There are generic faults we see from these riders. Stuff that they need to do differently when they are on road.
Unfortunately Brodie failed his first one, leaving his bloody indicator on ๐Ÿ˜”
To his credit, he took it on the chin, acknowledged his mistake, & did it better this time. Our lesson today really saw it all start to fall into place. Understanding why we do what we do.
A great ride, & a well deserved pass.
He'll be out enjoying his MT07 now. ๐Ÿ˜€

Congratulations to Derek on his R/E pass at Joondalup on Tuesday.
Derek started lessons elsewhere, but wasn't happy with his instructor, so he sought us out. Much happier with our approach.
He got himself up to the standard he wanted, then did the extra lessons until he was able to do his assessment.
Unfortunately the nerves got the better of him on his first test, but he decided to give it ago this time on his own bike, his Triumph Speed 400, this time.

Late post from last week
Sorry ๐Ÿ˜
Well done to Ryan on his R/E pass at Joondalup today.
Ryan has plenty of off road experience, but limited on road.
He came & saw us some time ago to work out what he needed to practice, then went off to wait out his 6 months.
Smart fella.
Then came back to finish it off.
Unfortunately, his first one ended in a fail due to leaving his indicator on ๐Ÿ˜”
Lesson learned, & he won't be doing that again.
Great ride today, & an easy pass.
Looking forward to getting out on his MT07 on his won.
Well Done Mate

Great R/E pass for Charlie today at Butler.
While Charlie had some riding experience when he came to see us, he knew he was a long way short of where he needed to be.
It`d been a while since he'd ridden, & he knew it would take time to get his skills up , but he was happy to take his time.
And that we did. Working through the lessons slowly but progressively, seeing improvements at each lesson.
His biggest issue was the quick stops. He was dreading them as he knew how dangerous they can be. But, as we are extremely careful as we work through this process, he was actually quite surprised as to how comfortable they felt in the end.
The most important skills we can show you is how stop the bike safely in a panic situation. While it is a requirement to pass the assessment, it`s more for the student feeling they are in control of their bike.
Charlie realised how much competent & safe he felt on the bike when he'd mastered that process.
Even when I thought he was ready, Charlie still wanted to keep the lessons going. He knew he was investing in his future, & that is priceless.
His ride today with me was good, regardless of the changing weather conditions. He only got marked down for inconsistent head checks on his test.
Looking, looking, looking.
No bike yet, but now the fun of looking begins.
The aim, in the end, is to get his beloved Harley

Why it pays to clean your bike regularly.
I was doing the MT07 the other day when I noticed some excess oil around the shock.
An inspection revealed a blown seal.
Thank you to Steve at JMS for getting it sorted ASAP

A bittersweet pass for a moped rider today.
Happy that he passed, but concerned that he`s not Really as safe as I'd like to see him.
The young bloke rides off road so both he & his parents think he'll be fine on the road, & like a lot of people, think it`s easy to ride a moped.
While some of that is true, the road is a very different & dangerous place. While he knew what he needed to do out there, from my perspective he wasn't really reading the traffic & the dangers. We only managed 2 lessons, & my norm for mopeds is usually 4-6.
On our ride today, he had 2 cars pull out on him that he didn't perceive or react to.
I did the best I could in the time I had, & he luckily managed to sneak through the assessment. No fault of the assessor, as he may have just had an easy run out there where nothing out of the ordinary happened.
Sadly sometimes the process doesn't work as it should, but no one is at fault ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿซค๐Ÿ˜”

Adamโ€™s passion for the job is similar to my own. He has come through the process with us so he knows the standards we strive to achieve.
Time for me to start to transition out of the business
Good luck mate

Well done to Joel on his R/E pass at Joondalup today.
While Joel was already able to ride, he really wanted to make sure he was safe out there. To his credit, we did a lot more lessons than he needed. He was of the mindset that he is investing in his future.
Smart bloke.
He got caught out with me on a few small things today, but generally a good ride.
But, he nearly failed on the way back.
When turning right onto Boas Ave at the traffic lights at Grand Boulevard, heading back to the Lic Ctr, he had a green light, but no green arrow. He initially failed to proceed.
Like a lot of people, they don't want to get caught in the intersection.
The law requires the first vehicle Must enter the intersection, & then wait for a clear path through. If that means waiting for an orange, or even red light due to oncoming traffic not giving way, then that`s not your problem. As long as you enter on the green, you can then proceed when it is safe.
Thankfully he went through as required.
If he hadn't of entered though, he would be deemed to be holding up the flow of the traffic, & that is a fail.
He`s got a new Suzuki SV650 at home. The plan is to share it with his Dad.
Nice one.

Impressive torque and smooth engine performance make the SV650 a dream machine motorcycle. Click for both full-powered and learner approved versions.

Great R/E pass for Jack today at Joondalup.
(Donโ€™t know if I like these bloody Saturday tests though ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ˜ž)
Jack is an ex driving instructor so a lot of what we do is similar, but weโ€™ve got to be a Lot more aware.
As heโ€™d never ridden before, we started off in the car park & worked the process through. With his training experience, it certainly helped, & we got it all done fairly easily.
With his new job, it has made lessons a little spasmodic, but each time he got on the bike, it took less & less time to get settled.
When we got up to Joondalup for the test prep, due to his knowledge of the area, it was again really smooth & easy.
His ride today with us (Adam & myself) was again very good, but bloody cold ๐Ÿฅถ
He learned he shouldโ€™ve got those bloody gloves we mentioned previously ๐Ÿ˜€
Great ride with the assessor, & a comfortable pass.
Got hit with inconsistent head checks.
Now the fun bit of finding a bike ๐Ÿ˜„

Disappointing fail for a student today at Joondalup.
When you're out there riding, you always have to assume worst case scenario.
My bloke guessed the pedestrian wouldn't step out in front of him ๐Ÿค”
He guessed wrong, & she did ๐Ÿ˜•
He didn't give way to the pedestrian, so an instant fail.
Always, Always, Always expect the worst.
Anything better is a bonus.

Bloody Weather Bureau ๐Ÿ™„
They've been forecasting all week that we'll get 20-40mm of rain today.
So, being the considerate instructor that I am, I moved all my lessons to Friday (my day off).
Then it doesn't bloody rain, & it`s a beautiful day ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Congratulations to Paul on his R/E pass today at Butler.
He was referred on to us by his mate, & ex student, Ian.
Unfortunately, we didn't really get the time to get all the lessons in, & we were probably one short today.
That made it all a bit more pressured. I really had to hammer Paul to get him into shape ASAP. Luckily he is a skilled rider, & an intelligent bloke, & we saw the improvements we were after.
In the end it was a good ride with the assessor & a comfortable pass.
Paul has a Kawasaki Vulcan 650 ready at home to get out on & enjoy ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰

Vulcan S cruisers boast adjustability, power, and style with a 649 cc engine, light and responsive handling, and ERGO-FIT sizing capability.

A Huge Well Done to Simi on her R/E pass today at Joondalup !
Itโ€™s been a long & trying road for Simi.
Unfortunately, she started her lessons with another company. They rushed her through their process & out onto the road well before she was ready.
Thankfully, ex student Bek, referred her on to us.
When we discussed her progress, we realized we needed to head back to the car park & get her skills sorted.
So many things were wrong with her riding I was actually surprised her previous instructor put her out on the road. She wasnโ€™t able to keep herself safe. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ž
From those beginnings, it made the job harder for both of us as we now had to change a whole pile of bad habits, & overcome a lot of the fear she had developed. Certainly not her fault, but she was never going to give up on it all.
We worked long & hard to get that standard back up to where it should be. Simi never wavering & continually improving.
When we did get back out on the road, those bad habits continued to rear their ugly head. But with practice & patience, we gradually got there & Simi slowly started to feel she was in control.
When it came to her test prep, the apprehension did initially get on top of her. But again, with time, we got there. It all came down to making each step make sense. Which then made her feel capable & confident in her skills.
The nerves did kick in today, naturally, & I wouldnโ€™t say it was her best ride. But Iโ€™m a hard bastard & Always aim for perfection.
As Simi is now an assessor, she has to be tested by our bosses from Compliance. So to a higher standard. She made a couple of silly mistakes, but got there in the end.
Did she deserve it ?
Absa-f$&@โ€œn-lutely ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘

Wrote the day off today due to the crap weather.
A few jobs to do on the bikes anyway.
The first was one of the spares wouldnโ€™t run ๐Ÿค”. I didnโ€™t think Iโ€™d left it That long between starts, but apparently so. Stale fuel. Flushed the system, fresh fuel, good as gold.

The other had an exhaust leak/rattle. Repacked the gasket & all quiet now. ๐Ÿ˜‰
