Our beautiful fennel is once again in season. We just made a fresh batch (or two) of Pickled Fennel with Turmeric. It’s delicious with cheese or charcuterie boards for the upcoming festive entertaining season, fill up your gourmet gifting hamper, serve with Swedish meatballs or bratwurst. Oh what to do on a windy afternoon?
Marmalade bubbling on the stove. I always prepare extra rind from marmalade making for that quintessential Christmas cake and pudding. Much preferred to store bought candied peel. Do you like peel in your fruit cake?

Our star performer! Collaboration with customers extend beyond veggie deliveries. Help is always welcomed when planting seedlings and everyone loves being part of holistic food production. We reached out to Alison and Vee, studying horticulture was in the paddock less than 24 hours. Not only is she enthusiastic and a hard worker, she mastered the tiller and planted 300 odd leeks, amongst cabbages, romanescos and more. So grateful 🙏

We have unique relationships with our customers. It’s a partnership. We don’t just supply vegetables, we consult our partners what they need, what they want, what they desire…so when one of the chefs asked for radicchio and chicory catalogna…we just harvested and will be in the delivery this week. First harvest is always exciting!

Citrus season means marmalade at Fox & Quail! There is nothing like marmalade on toast with a pot of tea on a cold winter’s morning by the fire. Marmalade has many uses. I love it in marinates and sauces, glazes for ham and duck, or flavours for icing atop tea cakes and sponges, muffins and slices.

Our cumquat tree is between flowering and fruiting, we have the good fortune of great friends let us harvest their tree. Could you call it foraging friend’s backyard? Thank you ever so much!

Endive, frisée or escarole lettuce, whatever you call it, they are thriving in this cooler weather. It’s such a versatile vege, not just in salads, it can take a lot more cooking than spinach. Emily uses in it her green scramble, pestos, chimichurri and more. Such a vibrant green! Discover endive this weekend .

Just came back from the vet. It’s official, Missy is expecting pups! She has been a super good girl. Very affectionate and sooky but protective nature. Still catching rats and chasing away the ducks from dad’s veggie patch. It’s important to get exercise for a healthy pregnancy baby girl. Follow Missy’s journey with us.
