Wow! Second time round approved

We lodged this client first 600 visa in July 2023 and this was refused on 7 August 2023 !

However, we knew that this refusal wasn’t fair so we lodged another 600 visa (I did tell the client there is still no guarantee) and today it has been approved!!

We lodged this one on 17 October 2023….no further request from the case officer 😊

The client is so happy

Migration Queensland (MQ) is the state nominating body for the Queensland government and a business unit of TIQ.

The Victorian state government has announced its allocations for the 190 and 491 visa. They have allocated 3,300 places to Victoria for the 2023-2024 program

These consist of:
- 190 skilled Nominated Visa- 2,700 places
- 491 Skilled Regional Visa- 600 places

The Victorian State Government will announce its eligibility requirements when it opens

"From 1 July 2023, New Zealand citizens who have been living in Australia for four years or more will be eligible to apply directly for Australian citizenship. They will no longer need to first apply for and be granted a permanent visa. This means all New Zealand citizens who hold a permanent visa or a Special Category (subclass 444) visa (SCV) are eligible to apply directly for citizenship (by conferral)."

Migration Update from 1 July 2023

1. The 2023-24 migration planning level will be 190,000 places, with 137,100 allocated to the skilled migration stream.

2. Increase in Fees and Charges

The Government will increase Visa Application Charges (VACs) from 1 July 2023.

The Budget Papers indicate that Visa Application Charges will rise by between 6% and 40%

3.Increase in TSMIT for the 482 visa (short term stream)

The Government will increase the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold from the current rate of $53,900 to $70,000 from 1 July 2023

4. Graduate Subclass 485 visas
485 Graduate work stream must nominate an occupation on the list as per Schedule 1, Item 1229(3)(k) and (ka), unless a new legislative instrument is released that extends this date. As yet there has been no indication that a new legislative instrument will be released.
485 Graduate work stream will require a skills assessment as per Schedule 2, Reg 485.223 from that date
485 Post Study work stream extended work rights and 2 year extension

5. Student visas

Condition 8104 work rights relaxation will be removed, unless the Student VH was working in the aged care sector on 9 May 2023, with this reverting to the normal working restrictions on 31 December 2023.
For all other Student VH the 40 hour per fortnight work restriction will be increased to 48 hours on 1 July 2023. See: Home Affairs website

An update for the number of parent visas being granted for this financial year

A maximum of 6,800 visas may be granted for the 2022-2023 financial year, up from 3,600 in the previous year.

Of the maximum number of Contributory Parent visas, a maximum of 112 visas may be granted to applicants for the Contributory Parent Visa Migrant, Class CA who hold or who last held SC 405 Investor Retirement or SC 410 Retirement visas

A maximum of 1,700 Parent visas may be granted in the 2022- 2023 financial year, up from 900 in the previous year.

Of the maximum number of Parent visas, a maximum of 13 visas may be granted to applicants for the Parent (Migrant) (Class AX) visa who hold or who last held C 405 Investor Retirement or SC 410 Retirement visas

Other Family visas

A maximum of 500 Other Family visas may be granted in the 2022-2023 financial year, the same number as in the previous year

What a way to end the week by receiving a reference like this from one of my clients:
