RELOCATION ADVICE - ALL LOW-LYING AREAS across Lockyer Valley Region
In response to updated weather forecasts, all residents in low-lying areas subject to flooding are being urged to self-evacuate.
Intense rainfall from converging weather systems is possible, which increases the risk of inundation.
Now is the time to activate your familyâs emergency plan and relocate to a safer place on higher ground until the weather and threat eases.
For those unable to relocate to family and friends, PLACES OF SHELTER are available at:
* Laidley State High School (via Edward St)
* Gatton Shire Hall
* Grantham Butter Factory
* Glenore Grove Hall
* Alex Geddes Hall and
* Forest Hill School of Arts
Additionally, the following centres are expected to be open by 5am with limited resources: Murphys Creek Community Centre and Helidon RSL.
You should take bedding, medication, some food, warm clothes, phone chargers and any personal items needed.
Preservation of life remains our key priority, and ALL residents are permitted at Places of Shelter.
Places of Shelter focus primarily on the safety of community members and may not have specific facilities for pets. If you need to take pets to a Place of Shelter, you will need to take pet cages, food, medications, bedding and appropriate restraints to ensure the safety of others staying at the Shelter.
Anyone requiring assistance to relocate, should contact SES on 132 500.
If you are in immediate danger, please contact Emergency Services on 000.
Council is closely monitoring the weather situation and will provide more updates if, and when, necessary.
