Meet our Guide, Kenna.

Kenna rates the South Coast Track very highly, and when he's not guiding in Tasmania, he loves guiding out in Kakadu.

His number one piece of outdoor kit? His Mont Tempest Rainpants - when he has them out he really knows he's in some pretty wild and woolly weather!

Have you walked with Kenna?

Three generations planting trees.

What does this have to do with Trek Tasmania you ask?

Well, the guy on the right is Holger Strie, he's our fearless leader and one of the most respected wilderness guides in Australia. Holger truly understands how precious the Tasmanian wilderness is.

So when he's not out guiding, Holger spends his time managing sustainability projects on Notley Valley Farm, utilising regenerative agriculture and restoration forestry principles to restore and improve the entire ecosystem of the farm. This includes planting a few thousand trees.

We thank Holger for his passion and commitment.

While Tasmania is better known for its chilly weather, you still need to be sun-safe while trekking โ˜€๏ธ

Itโ€™s important to remember to bring a wide-brim hat, plenty of sunscreen and long-sleeved shirts to help protect you when the Tasmanian sun does make an appearance.

We believe the best way to explore Tasmaniaโ€™s remote wilderness is on foot.

With our style of treks, we want you to take plenty of time to enjoy the birds, plants, animals, scenery (like the stunning Walls of Jerusalem you see here) and just being in the bush.

While we explore, weโ€™re mindful of the impact our presence can have. We take steps to identify and minimise all possible environmental risks of our treks and ensure there is no long-term environmental impacts from us being there.

Experience the edge of the world ๐ŸŒ

There are very few places left that are just like the South Coast of Tasmania - wild and spectacular.

Our 9-day South Coast Track tour sees us cross wild rivers, pristine rainforests, unspoilt beaches and vast meadows of brilliant wildflowers.

This challenging trek is not for the faint-hearted but for those that complete it, the rewards can be life-changing.

The Tasmanian wilderness is a diverse environment.

Many animals call this place home, and often our treks pass by their homes. Weโ€™ve made it our mission to ensure there is no long-term environmental impact from these treks and we contribute to the conservation of these areas.

We love sharing this unique wilderness area and want to continue sharing it for a long time.

Meet Lani ๐Ÿ‘‹

In between sharing her passion for the Larapinta Trail and gearing up for the upcoming Tassie season, we caught up with her.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What is your favourite Trek Tours Australia trip?
It would have to be the South Coast Track, with the End-to-End Larapinta Trail a very close second! It really does have it all, complete wilderness, mountains, beaches, rainforests and wild rivers.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What trek would you love to experience and why?
Currently planning to head back to Nepal, but I also love going to a new country and letting the locals show me their favourite hiking spots.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Number one piece of outdoor kit for any trek?
There is definitely more than one item you need, but I guess I do really love my Suunto watch, being able to keep track of kms and time to make sure we can enjoy the day and also stay on track for a great trip.

Have you experienced the South Coast Track?

One of our guides' favourite days on this trek is walking the Ironbound Range to Little Deadmans Bay. It's a challenging day, but the views at the top of the Ironbound Range make it worth it.

At its highest point (1,000 metres), the Ironbound is the highest mountain range in Australia to fall directly into the Southern Ocean.

With some of the most challenging weather conditions on our treks, we take the descent slowly. Our path takes us through mossy rainforests and eventually emerges onto the coast.

What day of trekking do you remember enjoying the most?

Exploring Australia's backyard just got a little bit easier.

We've recently completed an overhaul of our websites and brought ALL our treks into one place. Whether you want to explore the wild west coast of Tasmania, the rugged Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory or the life-changing Overland Track, it's now even easier.

Which trekking adventure are you adding to your plans?

There are so many incredible sights to see while exploring the Tasmanian wilderness.

To make sure you see them all, we recommend practising sun safety by bringing:

โ˜€๏ธ A good pair of sunnies to protect you from the sun's intense UV rays
โ˜€๏ธ A wide-brimmed hat to protect both your face and your neck

Bring both, and you won't miss a thing on your trek. Who knows, you might even spot a Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle soaring overhead.
