If you ever come down to Launceston its worth checking Swiss Village at Grindlewald hiding in the West Tamar Valley just about 20mins from Launceston.
Also to get a delicious milk shake or coffee at Miss-a-Sippy not to be missed!
Nice view of lake, boating and golf course too.

Iron Pot Lighthouse aka Derwent Lighthouse -

Many people are not aware of this, but this is the first lighthouse of Tasmania and the 2nd oldest in Australia were built in 1832. This is one of the hidden place in Tasmania I have explored three times. It was used to open for public to see this ironic piece of history from 'Cape Direction' unfortunately now its closed for public because it's now under Defence land which meand no public access at all.

However, there is another way to get it there and look at this lighthouse. Most people aren't aware of this way, one of the local of South Arm told me this direction to get there (however still no map for public to get there) I was so thankful to that local.

If anyone would like to explore this hidden lighthouse: park your car at 'Blessington Coastal Reserve' then follow the direction as per the map in the picture.

Great history about this beautiful Branxholm Primary School opened in 1885 now it's converted into Branxholm Lodge (A house & Accomodation)

History -

Branxholm School was opened 1 April 1885 with 28 children on rolls and closed in 1886. The school re-opened 31 March 1890. In the interim the school was a half-time school with Brothers' Home School at Derby having the other half of the teacher's time. (Annual reports) . After urgent representations by Mr. T. Bakhap, M.H.A., the Minister for Education has approved of the er****on of a new school at Branxholm to accommodate over 120 children. (Daily Post, 1910) Branxholm Primary School in Tasmania's north-east was closed and the students moved to Winnaleah District High School. (Education Department Annual Report, 2009-10)

Worth a visit - Beaconsfield Gold Mine, A great history of this beautiful gold mine, but sadly it collasped in 2006.
Locals are saying, Government are planning to reopen it, however not sure.

The first ever Alluvial gold was discovered in Australia in 1847 at Beaconsfield, one of the richest mines during the operational period and produced approx 855,000 oz of gold.

Ross Bridge built in 1836

This is second oldest bridge in Australia after Richmond Bridge.

Known for beautiful sculptures & design, especially Roman style numbers written on bridge to describe distance for Hobart & Launceston from Ross.
Sadly, many people don't use roman style number these, I think not even in schools.

Abandoned trains in Tasmania.

I have clicked these pictures of Karoola Rail Line (Near Lilydale). I have asked some locals in Karoola, they said; government sold these trains to Private Company. Really sad to see all trains in Tasmania had been abondoned by the government in 1978. Trains run in Tasmania for more than a century from 1871-1978.

I have asked many locals in Tasmania why these train lines stopped? Most of their responses; due to high maintenance, it was very expensive for government to afford.

I have been to several places in Tasmania and heve seen a lot of trains, I can even raise the voice to bring the train back for residents of Tasmania, at least between two major towns Hobart & Launceston.
Many jobs & opportunities will creates.
