NEWS: The retreat will close as from today. All guests that have bookings will be contacted via Booking.com for a relocation. I am so sorry to have to do this, I know we have guests that return. I am only doing this due to illness and selling my home/retreat.

Is anyone wanting to come to Launceston for 1-3 months? I am going to rent my private area out which is separate from the main retreat. Is there anyone that would like to rent in Launceston for 1-3 months? I have Launceston Wildlife Retreat, the retreat can not take anymore long term bookings, but my area upstairs can be available for a short term rental. Fully furnished, right on the river, wildlife visiting, 15 minutes into the city centre, 5 mins to the shops. This is for July, August and September. Past guests who want to come back and enjoy Tassie in a relaxed way this is a great opportunity. There is a king size bed so only 1-2 people no children due to the very high balcony

Just outside of Zeehan in Tasmania's west is the Spray Tunnel Loop, an easy one-hour return walk that passes through the Spray Tunnel, a 100-metre long abandoned train tunnel that leads to what was the Spray Silver Mine.

Possibly Tasmania’s biggest since 1986! ⛄️

A bitterly cold air mass will cause low-level snow in Tasmania this weekend, with parts of Hobart possibly in line to see the first flakes of the season.

A pool of polar air from the ice sheets of Antarctica will surge across the Southern Ocean later this week and slam into Tasmania on the weekend.

Forecast models suggest that the air arriving in Tasmania late on Saturday and lingering into Sunday could be cold enough for snow to fall to about 100 to 200 metres above sea level, possible even lower. While there is still some uncertainty regarding the exact snow level this far out, all forecast models agree that it’s going to get very cold and that there will be widespread snow.

It’s also going to be very windy, with numerous warnings likely to be issued over the coming days!

Be careful on the roads everyone, its looks like we may see snow at the retreat again.

Might snow most of Tasmania or not but at the moment EC is saying Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

At this moment we think it’s more likely 200-300 metres but wait and see situation
