A service for a wonderful lady who will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Near or far Bus & Coach provided the transport for our National Conference Interstate delegates from Sydney Airport to Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains last weekend. What a pleasure to deal with, nothing was too hard from the original phone call to the final drop offs. We required 3 transfers, 2 from the airport on different days and a final return from the Fairmont back to the Airport on the Sunday. Rod and Justine were amazing to work with, the price was very competitive and the service was truly outstanding. The drivers were friendly and professional and all of the delegates had a terrific experience. Being a local company to the Blue Mountains, made all the difference with commentary along the way. I highly recommend Near or Far Bus & Coach and will absolutely use them again for our transport needs in Sydney.

Today we named one of our coaches, “Lady Marian”.
Kelvin Weatherburn formed and ran IHS coaches for many many years, prior to Justine and Rod buying Kelvin and Marian’s coach and business.
Currently the wonderful Marian Weatherburn is very sick and we wish her love, peace and hope.
Marian is a loved part of our little business and we want her to know how much she means to all of us.

We are thinking of her, Kelvin and her three kids and all of her grandchildren and great grandkids and all of the family and her friends.

The Western Sydney Airport could be detrimental to The Blue Mountains. We question the equity for local residents and other businesses who are not supported by Blue Mountains City Council and their friends.
It is fascinating that our mayor is not supporting a non curfewed airport but council supports the tourism body (that leaves so many businesses out and infact has crippled some).
There must not be an airport that is not curfewed and has the real potential to destroy people's lifestyles and damage such a precious area.
A balanced approach is needed and equity for all, not just a few.
The inequity in the way funding and exposure to the community has harmed so many and it seems the airport will be no different.
We also note, the disappointing and incorrect story about us in The Gazette last week.
We have requested that this story, which is correct is printed next week. We thank the community for their support with regard to the incorrect first story

HOLIDAY CLOSURE until 5 JANUARY 2024
This year has been an extremely busy, exciting, tough, hard and tricky year.
We have spent a lot of time with new and old friends and wonderful tours, we have explored our National Capital with schools and community groups alike and we have enjoyed numerous charters and tours. Our wedding transport services have enabled us to share some of the happiest days for couples and their families and cherished friends.

We have also struggled with inequity with local a government tourism strategy that has taken apart our pre COVID and pre bushfire business in the local area. Achieved through biased marketing with targeted favouritism to corporations and organisations meant for all businesses for The Blue Mountains. To favour one company over another with public money has taken its toll on us, is wrong and we hope these people are pleased with their greed. In our situation we have been unfairly omitted and bullied out of our community travel work. Blue Mountains City Council has certainly not helped. Tourism in The Blue Mountains for us has created a monopoly for local group transport, ensuring our family company is excluded.

We are using a couple of weeks to travel, rest and recharge for 2024, to spend time with family and friends.

Thankyou to everyone who has worked along side us and helped with our tours and travel, we appreciate you.

This morning, one of our wonderful staff went to his garage and workshop to find it was broken in to. A terrible way to start a day of Charter work.
His tools, chests and more have been stolen. This adds to a tough year for him with illness through the family and more.
The offense has occured on Mitchell's Pass in Blaxland.
We are offering a two thousand five hundred dollar reward for any information to identify these low lives. All information will be treated confidentially.
Alternatively, please contact Springwood Police Station.
We would love these scum bags to be caught out.

All of us at Near or Far Bus and Coach - Blue Mountains Bus Charter love working in our of community. We enjoy meeting a variety of wonderful people and travelling with them.
We also appreciate the positive interactions we have with our customers. Occasionally we cop abuse simply for trying to look after our valued passengers. If you want abuse our drivers or staff, you simply are not welcome on our buses. We take our responsibility to keep you safe extremely seriously and we will not tolerate abuse. Those who abused our staff today are absolutely not welcome on any of our vehicles.

Unfortunately accidents can happen and it did happen yesterday to poor Mel and our driver, but to get this feedback after a scrape, turned a foul event into something we can see a positive in.

To our dear friend, neighbour and a member of our company family, Chloe Hitchell
Out hearts broke with the news of the sudden loss of your father on Wednesday.
Your father was a kind-hearted man who showed us how kindness, understanding and effort goes such a long way. I will never ever forget him ensuring he thanked us when we took your little sister to Canberra for her school camp.
Whilst he leaves a huge hole in your heart, please know his memory and his love for you will always be there.
We are all here for you ❤️. Thankyou Mr Hitchell for being you and showing Chloe and her beautiful sisters how good a dad can be.
