Over winter the local creeks cool off a little and most people avoid swimming, but as the days get longer, it's soon time to pull on the swimmers and get wet. This photo of Repentance Creek, shows one of many great spots for a dip on a hot day.

Hiking through the big scrub bushland in the Northern Rivers is a wonderful experience. It's best done as a small group! That way, you can slow down, look close, and soak up the many textures of nature.

An adventure near Byron Bay or Ballina on a sunny day in April or May is fantastic. This time of year, through until July, is the best for coastal activities. Clear warm water, lower humidity, and the fine weather most days can't be beaten!

There are so many amazing little-known waterfalls we'd love to share with you here, but we promised National Parks we wouldn't post them on Instagram. When we run adventures near water, we see amazing water birds. This is the Australian Pelican which is common along the coast line of our island nation. Recently I found one on a creek up in the hinterland feasting on Crayfish. These birds can travel huge distances inland. Large high flying flocks have recently been seen heading west, possibly to feast on the fish that are slowly moving down Cooper Creek in large numbers towards Kati Thanda (Lake Eyre) as a result of the strong monsoon season this summer. Such a long flight is a fine feet for Australia's second heaviest bird, which normally weights in at 5-7kgs. The heaviest recorded was 13kgs. What's your favourite waterbird?
