It’s the kind of place you might have driven past many times before on the road from Sydney to Orange or Mudgee. But next time, it’s worth a stop. Here’s why.

The walks out to the pagodas are a beautiful experience filled with lush scenery, enchanting valleys and cool caves. The walks themselves are just as wonderful as the view at the end.

Here is a glimpse of what it's like to walk through Maiyingu Marragu / Black Fellows Hands Trail, on the way out to the Temple of Doom.

Thanks to Paul Ma for the photo - one of many on his great blog at https://mntviews.blogspot.com

Great spot! An endangered Giant Dragonfly was captured on camera in the Long Swamp area near the Coxs River in Ben Bullen State Forest.

The Giant Dragonfly is one of many threatened species inhabiting the area we want to see conserved as part of the Destination Pagoda campaign. This rare dragonfly was spotted by Chris Jonkers in January 2021.

The majestic Lost City is just a few kilometres north of Lithgow.

This series of striking pagodas look like an ancient civilisation in the middle of the wilderness and if you ever visit, you won't forget it.

Have you ever been out there? Please share your pictures!

Recognition of Lithgow's huge tourism potential is growing. Great to see such a renowned chef bringing more fine dining to the region.

The chef, who has a personal connection to the village, plans to bring life back to Rockley.

Visitation to NSW reserves and national parks is way up. Now is the right time to create the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area and take advantage of this huge opportunity for Lithgow.

NSW will join other states in promoting multi-day walks in popular national parks, with the government tipping in $80 million to ease access to destinations with a growing global profile.

Thank you Leo and the Williams family! Your passion for the area will make all the difference in making Destination Pagoda a reality!

Promising news: a cross-party group of MPs are joining the call to protect the soaring pagodas of the Gardens of Stone.

Magnificent sites like the 'Lost City' and the 'Temple of Doom' lie within currently unprotected public land, bordering three National Parks of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

The 39,000 hectare area earmarked for conservation also includes endangered upland swamps, and the call for protection includes curbs on new coal mining approvals to prevent further damage to remaining swamplands.
