Today we held two sold-out SA History Month events with 50 attendees taking the opportunity to learn about the history of our property and the stories it holds. It was particularly special having John Foster here as John’s great-great grandfather Stephen Gower built our property in 1855 and his wife, Sarah Gower, was renowned for her hospitality and the scrumptious feasts she prepared. We’ve named the farmhouse kitchen the ‘Sarah Gower Kitchen’ in her honour. It was also great to meet Debbie Davis, whose parents owned the property in the early 1970s. All donations raised will go directly to the Lyndoch Historical Society.

We had a most enjoyable afternoon today hosting the SA Australiana Society at Lyndoch Grand, followed by lunch at The Lord Lyndoch, viewing the exhibition at Barossa Regional Gallery and finishing with a traditional game of kegel at The Tanunda Kegel Club Inc.

A huge thank you to Artistic Wizard Darren Conway for the fabulous heritage artwork he completed for us at Lyndoch Grand this week. It’s been many years since this space on the southern wall advertised ‘The Railway Hotel’ and ‘The Coffee Palace’. We’re proud to have such fine work adorn this special place.

Celebrating the heritage of Lyndoch Grand took another step forward this week with the addition of an original Orlando Wines advertising light box installed at the end of the upper balcony. Lyndoch Grand was originally built as the New Lord Lynedoch Hotel in 1855 and the Orlando brand has long been associated with Johann Gramp who established the first vines in the Barossa Valley at nearby Jacob’s Creek. The light box is solar powered too, so it’s environmentally friendly.
