The hype, excitement and planning is well underway for the 2024 Malanda Show! The three-day show will this year take place on the 5th, 6th and 7th of July which is the LAST weekend of the school holidays – perfect timing for families from afar to plan a trip to the Atherton Tablelands.

It promises to be an event not to be missed, jam-packed full of fun and merriment, including the animal competitions and displays (dairy and beef cattle, horses, poultry, goats and gorgeous animal nursery), and of course, side show alley.

Kicking off the weekend on the Friday evening will be the ever-popular Ergon Energy Street parade. Long term show supporters Rob and Elizabeth Duncombe will be opening the 2024 Malanda Show on Friday evening at the showgrounds.

Saturday promises a full day of competition in the dairy, stud and main arena areas culminating with The BIG ‘Spar’tacular firework display in the evening, provided by the generous support of our SPAR Malanda and The BIG Pub.

Saturday night provides an opportunity to see the inner farmer in you shine with the Elders Insurance Tablelands Farmer’s Challenge.

The bar area will be rocking with Chris from Discotechnics on Friday evening and Careless on Saturday night both until late. There will be a blacksmith demonstration, a new Nigerian Dwarf Goats competition, sheep, as well as a reptile display.

Love is in the air for our wonderous echidna, who are out & about looking for love

Upon their big adventures, they may cross roads including the highways and driveways, and as they are very slow-moving they won't be able to get out of the way of a moving vehicle. Just a friendly reminder to please be mindful of these beautiful creatures when out and about and slow down if you do spot one on the roads.

We are getting a lot of Echidna coming into care, but sadly many more do not get the chance to come into care, as they do not survive the initial encounter with the car.

Please contact NQ Wildlife care on 0414 717 374 WE ARE THERE 24/7 if you encounter Echidna needing assistance or other wildlife.

Echidna's breeding season is from the end of June to early September. Typically the female Echidna is followed by a line of male Echidnas but also single Echidnas are also roaming around looking for a mate / if you see them please slow down.
