Whispers of the Past is a photographic exhibition of 4 very talented photographers from our local region Christine Denman, Louise Bond, Kirsty-Ann Thompson and Patricia Kahl. This exhibition presents a collection of photographs inspired by each photographers interpretation of “Whispers of the Past”.

Christine Denman says, “Whispers of the Past” is a figurative expression that evokes faint, lingering memories or remnants of past events. It likens these memories to soft whispers carried on the wind. I live in a place where the past, present and future are intertwined. Around us are the ruins of houses – once homes to families – abandoned cars, and decaying windmills. These relics speak of lives once lived, yet now they stand silent, stripped of their human connections and left to the forces of time.

The Arnold Gallery is part of the Mannum Dock Discovery Centre at 6 Randell Street Mannum, is open every day (except Christmas Day & God Friday) and entry to the gallery is free, exhibition is on now until 28th February.

CANCELLATION Mannum Markets for this Sunday 2nd February due to forecast high temperatures.

A combination of high temperatures plus radiant heat from the asphalt will make it very uncomfortable and impacts those vulnerable to heat. This will not be good for our stallholders and/or patrons and based on this we have cancelled our Markets.

Come and check out this new exhibition by Sarah Ellis-Steinborner, her first solo exhibition.

Following the 2023 floods, these pieces capture the river’s vibrant beauty, showcasing its resilience and grace. Amidst the challenges of the ongoing drought, these works celebrate the enduring spirit of the river, revealing its power and tranquility even in times of scarcity.

A prolific artist this exhibition features in excess of 40 pieces – all affordable and perfect to adorn the walls of shacks, holiday homes and houseboats. The pieces are also available for purchase and take-home, ideal for visitors to the region as unique souvenirs and Christmas gifts.
