A close encounter with our wonderful local endemic white-tailed black cockatoos! π€©π
Our guide Bree was hiking the track with a group who were thrilled to see these cockies searching for food in this dead grass tree trunk.
Turn up the volume to hear the birdsβ exuberant calls! Listed as threatened, our cockatoos are such an intelligent, beautiful and treasured native species - we love spotting them and spending time with them β€οΈ

Look at this cutie!! Heβs a quenda, or southern brown bandicoot. What a beauty! π€©
This little guy was filmed at Moses Rock as our guided group stopped for a breather on Day 3 of our 8-Day Guided end to end adventure on the Cape to Cape Track π£
Quendas are mainly nocturnal, digging and scouring the ground for tubers, roots, fungi and insects. What a lucky sighting!
MIND BLOW ALERT! Check out this Orange Spider-hunting Wasp. These incredible wasps catch and paralyse spiders much bigger and heavier than themselves π¦π·οΈπ
The female will then drag the spider across the ground (because it canβt fly with such a heavy load) to its burrow in the sand where it will lay a single egg inside the arachnid.
When the larvae hatches, it eats the spider from the inside out - leaving the vital organs till last so the spider remains alive as long as possible and the flesh doesnβt go rancid!!
Then it bursts out of the spiderβs carcass, just like a scene with Sigourney Weaver in the classic movie Alien. Wow, ainβt nature mind blowing!
When you walk the Cape to Cape with our expert guides, youβll hear all kinds of amazing yarns like this one π

Our ace guide Cath was stoked after this close encounter, coming around a corner of the track to find herself face to face with a pair of birds feeding on the coastal heath.
These large, intelligent birds are endangered in WA, but we are so blessed the Margaret River region is a stronghold for these beautiful birds.
Wait for it! Check out this awesome emu family spotted at Contos by our guide Elise during a private guided hike on the Cape to Cape Track recently π€©β
π
βEarlier in the day we saw baby emu tracks and searched to no avail,β says Elise.
βI explained that emus can be elusive - if you try and look for them you wonβt find them, but when youβre not looking for them theyβll appear. And sure enough, as we sat down for lunch at Contos they strolled through camp.β ππ
