NAIDOC 2018 - Her Culture
Shades; Del, Dianne and Minnie singing at the Council NAIDOC luncheon in Warwick on Tuesday. A lovely event with lots of people celebrating their heritages.
AND, have a look at Wednesday's Warwick Daily News! At least two full pages of photos and stories of the Flag Raising and the Council luncheon.
Sharman danced two dances about cultural topics: The Bunya Mountains and Cultural Burning, and Brenda supplied a tasting table of a range of foods with traditional ingredients. A great opportunity to show deep Aboriginal culture.
Dancing on Country
Inspiring dance performance after the Wednesday burning workshop. Thank you to these Goomeroi people for sharing it with us. "Back to the Land" as Archie Roach said in his song!

Sharman has been talking to local school groups about the Bunya Festival held in the Bunya Mountains before Europeans came to Australia. It was a large music festival at which each visiting group put on a show which well-done dramatically and musically. It was also a time for exchange of goods and for finding marriage partners. We have produced a 16 minute video about the whole festival and a small booklet about our local Geynyan people going to the Festival. We hope to have some events around this idea every two years.
