Our passion is the complexity, sophistication and wonder of traditional Aboriginal ways of thinking about life and the world. We are about being Aboriginal Australian and being proud of it. We focus on the deep and complex traditions of our cultures, with special emphasis on our philosophies for living and finding meaning in life. We have short walking tours along a beautiful creek where you can p

ause and sense the spirit of the land, and reflect on our relationship with nature. Here too you can learn something of traditional uses of the plants for food, medicine, and other practical uses. We welcome women and men and children, school groups and anyone else. Here too you can taste some modern food using Aboriginal ingredients.

Connecting to Country for Kids. We will be holding these sessions with Aunty Kali. We are planning one for a Sunday for parents to bring kids - August 29 in Warwick and September 5 in Stanthorpe.

Kali will take them into a quiet bushy place and get them to be comfortable in the bush, see the plants and animals as valuable, smell, feel, see nature as her people see it and more. No cost.
We will keep you informed, but would appreciate it if you… See More

Burning leaf litter underneath thick tree cover with lots of invasive Cyprus trees. Reducing the fuel on a small patch in a potentially serious bushfire area, west of Stanthorpe and allowing native grass to come back.

Cultural burning in Stringybark Country, near Eukey. Lovely soft women's country. The bark of the Stringybark did not burn and spiders and beetles were running over the black ash very soon after the litter burnt.

We have just had two great gatherings of people wanting to learn from Fire Lore about using fie to look after country. At Braeside on Thursday where unfortunately it was too windy to burn but we still had lots of valuable sharing of ideas. And on Friday at Wildash where Robbie and his family did burn a grassy paddock and again had valuable discussions with a good crown of people.

We had a wonderful time this week with Fire Lore, a Githabul fire practitioner, doing caring for country burns at Stanthorpe and Maryvale with school students and community. This knowledge is now being progressively recognised around Australia as an important part of looking after our land and of preventing severe bushfires. Good on you Robbie!

This new book explains the clever ways in which First Nations people recorded knowledge without writing. They attached knowledge to places in their Country and made it memorable by song, dance and art, as well as by carefully giving it only to those ready to hear it. It has lots of stories of traditional people still doing this now - truly amazing. The techniques could even help kids now to learn at school (and help us all to re-connect to Country).
