During my latest Adland Tours adventure in the Galapagos, I was lucky enough to meet an extraordinary creature.
This rare species took me under its wing and helped me understand these magnificent islands in a way I never could have hoped.
The creature is part French, part Ecuadorian, a wonderful parent to two fantastic boys, a naturalist guide with a passion for education.
This creature is the one and only Colette Moine (https://www.facebook.com/colette.moine?mibextid=ZbWKwL)
Her latest project to change the world is Galápagos Infinito (Facebook link https://www.facebook.com/galapagosinfinito?mibextid=ZbWKwL)
Colette volunteers, supporting the project coordinator Noémi d'Ozouville (https://www.facebook.com/noemi.dozouville?mibextid=ZbWKwL),
The concept of Galapagos Infinito is to give every Ecuadorian child who lives in the Galapagos the chance to get out on a boat and explore the islands in a way most kids who live there never get a chance to do.
This is an enormously important idea because a lot of the people who live in Galapagos serve the tourist industry but have no real sense of identity that relates to being part of one of the most amazing national parks in the world.
The result is that kids in the Galapagos grow up not caring for or appreciating the islands, nature, or what the national park offers.
Already this project enables approx 100 kids a year to see the national park and learn about it in a new way. With just a little bit of help, this project could achieve its goal of giving all 500 kids in year 7 each year the chance to know their world.
I’m hoping that Adland Tours may be able to partner with them in the future—especially if we bring schools to the Galapagos.
There are already so many reasons why you should visit the Galapagos, but imagine being able to come with us and also support Galapagos Infinito at the same time!
The link for our next tour in 2025 is in the comments.
Thank you, Colette and Neomi!
The folks are off to Galapagos and should be nearing Santiago in 3 hours.
Meantime I'm representing the family at Nelas concert Bruised River.
It's been way too long a day creating a program for Eagles Nest for 2025 but here is a snippet of what I've been dying to share about the q'eros - I hate the word sharman but if you ever meet a real one don't expect them to be sitting on cushion waiting for you to kiss their feet. It more likely they will searve you tea.
Sometimes we feel hesitant about what the future holds. Some stay cosily enclosed in their blanket, others take the plunge.
Which type are you?
Perhaps all you need is someone to share the journey with.
Make the leap, come with us next year to Galapagos, Bali, Amazon, Cusco, Machu Picchu and The Sacred Vally 2025.
Shout out to my newest followers! Excited to have you onboard! Milan Petek Levokov, Sian Dowler, Zoe Fawcett Enticott
