I've started to pack boxes in readiness for Friday's road trip. I can't wait to introduce Lee's Dragon Dreams to the folk of Echuca.

After weeks of tireless work by so many we are very pleased to let you know that the Princes Highway is open all the way to the NSW border!

Many roads off the Princes Highway remain closed and are unsafe for travel. This includes smaller local roads, and parks and forest tracks where hazardous tree assessments have not yet been completed.

The Genoa to Mallacoota Road is only open to residents and essential services with a permit (available from the DELWP Orbost office) as hazardous tree work continues. We're working towards opening the road to the public soon.

There is still smoke in the area, reducing visibility. Drivers should use their headlights on low-beam and keep a safe braking condition.

Works continue along some areas of the highway in East Gippsland and drivers are asked to obey traffic management and speed restrictions. Police will be patrolling and enforcing the speed restrictions. Also be aware of increased presence and movement of wildlife.

Australia is a great place to visit, and Mount Beauty is up there as one of the best destinations in Victoria. We have mountains, rivers, beautiful scenery, 4 proper seasons with spring flowers and autumn colours, wineries, local producers, great cafes and restaurants, boutique shops, festivals of all sorts all year round and the list goes on.

Why pay thousands of dollars for flights to go overseas when you have everything on your doorstep.

So bring your kayaks, skis, bikes, long boards, fishing rods, golf clubs, tennis rackets, hiking shoes, bathers, boogie boards, paragliders, hang gliders, you can even bring your small plane, and enjoy your own back yard right here in the Kiewa Valley!

Taste your way around the High Country's welcoming villages year round, whether Alpine skiing in winter or getting the adrenaline pumping over summer.

We can't all be in East Gippsland right now to buy a round of beers for the fireys or a meal for families doing it tough.

But we can shout them everything from a coffee to a new outfit – and support local businesses at the same time.

It's My Shout has listings from cafes, restaurants, shops and accommodation in fire-affected areas so you can pay it forward.

And every dollar spent goes straight back into the local community.

Come on Victoria – it's our shout.

Metung Holiday Villas are currently empty after the fire threat they encountered. Please if your are heading down to help with fire relief in the area then consider them for somewhere to stay.
Like most businesses they need people to come and support them.
Metung luckily was spared by the fires but have lost their tourism for the season.
Awesome place to stay!

The idea is to visit a country town ravaged by bushfire with out taking supplies and to stock up once there to bring business back to the townships

I have created this page today as a way for country towns affected by the bushfires can post and encourage visitors to come and spend money in their town to assist with rebuilding.
This page is not for profit or for individuals to promote themselves but for communities to get it out there that they need tourists to visit their town.
In 3, 6 , 12 months when we have al forgotten the suffering.
Please no trolls or political posts
