VERY INTERESTING POST ALERT ๐
November is around the corner.. for us Catholics it means that we will be praying for the holy souls in purgatory kicking off on All soulโs day on November 2nd. Let us persevere to teach our kids, grand kids and other people in our circles of the value and purpose of honouring the dead and then praying for them. (instead of focussing on all things Halloween). Following are ways to perpetuate this meaningful practise even as a solid preparation for the coming Advent season..
Recently i was studying and finished a book on purgatory called Purgatory by Fr F X Schouppe, SJ.
It was an absolute eyeopener and i was very edified on reading it. Purgatory is an intricate topic but we do know from many examples of saints and other people to whom the holy souls have appeared to, that our prayers, alms and sacrifices especially offering holy mass for any one will never go in vain.
I guess the next plausible question would be โHow do i know my loved one is in purgatoryโ.
It is a common but not necessarily true belief that when someone dies, people tend to say that they are in heaven etc etc. A deeper look into our faith will reveal itโs a dogmatic teaching of our church and that majority of us will go to purgatory for purification before we have the beatific vision.
Whenever the Eucharist is celebrated, souls in Purgatory are purified โ i.e., they receive a full remission of sin and punishment โ and go to Heaven.
You can always refer to the Cathechism of the catholic church as a guide or your parish priest or spiritual mentor to get more information.
Below i will also add some information about plenary indulgences and Gregorian masses which are offered for souls.
I dont claim to be an expert but i do have the zeal to promote solid and efficacious practises of my faith which will impact people with the sole view to glorify God.
If anyone has any questions about Gregorian masses please reach out.. it can be organised.
May the holy souls of all our faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen. Alleluia๐๐ผ๐
