VISA 408 (COVID-19)
The Department of Home Affairs announced a new stream of Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity-Pandemic Event) visa.
As per the legislative instrument released regarding this visa, temporary visa holders who are already in Australia and cannot travel because of travel restrictions may be eligible for this visa. The main focus of this visa is on the workforce
shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to areas including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, agriculture, aged care, and public health.
If:
- you are already in Australia on a temporary visa
and
- you cannot travel due to COVID-19 pandemic
and
- you have only 28 days or less left on your temporary visa
OR
- your temporary visa has been expired and 28 days are not
elapsed since the expiry of your temporary visa
then you may be eligible for this visa.
To get this visa you may be accessed against your country of passport, current or existing visa, conditions on your current or existing visa.
Application Fee for this Visa is- $0
If you fall under the above-mentioned conditions then this may be your last chance to avoid unlawful status in Australia.
