ACECQA will be the new assessing authority for Early Childhood Teachers from 7 December 2024

From 7 December 2024, ACECQA will be the Assessing Authority delivering skills assessments for the Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) occupation.
If a client requires a new ECT skills assessment from 7 December 2024, you will need to submit the application to ACECQA. More information about this change can be found here.
If you have already submitted a skills assessment to AITSL on behalf of a client, this application will be assessed and finalised by AITSL. If your client’s application is found suitable, they will be issued a skills assessment certificate which will be recognised by the Department of Home Affairs for visa application purposes. Should you wish to withdraw your client’s application so you can apply to ACECQA, you can request an application withdrawal via the AITSL portal. AITSL will issue a partial refund (AUD 861) if the assessment of the application has not commenced. No refund will be issued if the assessment of the application has started.
You can continue to lodge ECT applications with AITSL until midnight of 6 December 2024. However, you may choose to lodge an application with ACECQA. Although the assessment criteria between AITSL and ACECQA are very similar, there are some differences. Please review AITSL’s ECT checklist against ACECQA’s assessment criteria to ensure the best outcome for your client
If your client has received a suitable skills assessment outcome from AITSL, it will remain valid for two (2) years, and they can still apply to obtain a Skilled Employment Statement from AITSL until 6 December 2024.
