Wow what a way to start the year! The mystery of who Amelia/amy is will keep us intrigued for the rest of the year. And what is it about lemons? The word came up several times through several different methods. We had a great Estes session and a weird female humming from the drawing room. We even went outside to make sure no one was there!

The Ovilus is a popular paranormal device designed to convert environmental changes (like EMF and temperature shifts) into words from a built-in database. Many believe spirits can manipulate these readings to communicate—while skeptics argue it's just random word generation.

On our tours at Black Rock House, we often experiment with the Ovilus in known active areas to see if intelligent responses align with the history of the location. Some nights, it’s eerily accurate!

How glad are we that for next weekend's investigation, the temp is going to be about 15 degrees less than it is today! Investigating in extreme heat is really no fun! This year we implemented an extreme heat policy where in heatwave cases like right now, we would not run our investigations for the comfort (and safety of guests). On more than one occasion on hot nights, people have had to go outside to get fresh air and water to avoid fainting while standing in a small hot room full of people. Please stay safe and keep cool. On this day 4 years ago, we were honoured to be nominated for a community award for best local event. While we didn’t win, it was nice to know that so many people love the work we do for Black Rock House. We just love working with the Friends and the house and seeing all the money raised through tours being put back into the house. Seeing so many improvements makes it so worthwhile! When you buy a ticket to our investigations, 100% of the ticket price (minus the trybooking fee) is donated to Black Rock House. On the first Sunday of every month, the house is open for tours and Devonshire tea which we really recommend you go and check out. You can see all the love that goes into maintaining this house by so many volunteers that are passionate about its preservation.
