On 14 May 2024, the Australian Government announced that the planning levels for the 2024โ€“25 permanent Migration Program (Migration Program) will be set at 185,000 places.

๐“๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’โ€“๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐Œ๐ข๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ ๐ก๐š๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง:

๐’๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฆ (132,200 places, approximately 71 per cent of the program) โ€“ This stream has been designed to improve the productive capacity of the economy and fill skill shortages in the labour market, particularly those in regional Australia.

๐…๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฆ (52,500 places, approximately 28 per cent of the program) โ€“ This stream is predominantly made up of Partner visas, enabling Australians to reunite with family members from overseas and provide them with pathways to citizenship.

Of this stream:
-> 40,500 Partner visas are estimated for 2024โ€“25 for planning purposes, noting this category is demand driven.
-> 3,000 Child visas are estimated for 2024โ€“25 for planning purposes, noting this category is demand driven.

Migration Tasmania has announced a significant update regarding Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for subclass 190 nomination.

๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐ž ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ:

-> Only accepting ROIs allocated a Gold Pass for subclass 190 nomination due to high demand exceeding available places.
-> Measure affects subclass 190 only and will continue for the 2023-24 program year.
-> Subclass 190 ROIs from all eligible candidates will resume acceptance when the 2024-25 program begins in July 2024.
-> No restrictions on ROIs for subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional visa nomination.
-> Candidates with existing ROIs allocated a Green Pass will be invited to apply for nomination, but issuance may be delayed until the next program year.
->ROIs for subclass 491 can be updated by withdrawing and resubmitting, without affecting processing time.

The Australian Government has introduced a new permanent residency pathway, the Subclass 192 (Pacific Engagement visa).
This program aims to strengthen ties with Pacific Island nations and Timor-Leste by offering permanent residence opportunities to their citizens.

- The required English proficiency score has been increased from an IELTS score of 5.5 to 6.0, or its equivalent in other tests such as PTE Academic (50), TOEFL iBT (83), or Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) (169).
-Minimum score for ELICOS course increases from IELTS 4.5 to 5.0 (or equivalent).
