🚨 Big News for Employers and Skilled Migrants! 🚨

On 7 December 2024, the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) was replaced by the new Skills in Demand (SID) visa. This change aligns with updates to the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) to better address economic demands and is part of the Australian Government’s broader skilled migration reform.

🔹 Key Features of the SID Visa:

Longer Stay: Up to 4 years in Australia instead of 2 years for Short Term Occupations.
Pathway to Permanent Residency: Clearer and faster routes for skilled workers.
New Streams:
Specialist Skills Stream: For high-salary roles ($135,000+) except machinery operators,Techinicians and Labourers.
Core Skills Stream: For roles listed on the CSOL with salaries over $73,150.
Labour Agreement Stream: Maintains existing TSS provisions.
🔹 Enhanced Pathways to Permanent Residency:

Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream: No more 2-year work requirement with the same employer, you could be working with differetn employers whiel holding SC482 visa.
Direct Entry (DE) Stream: Direct path to PR for CSOL-listed occupations.
🔹 Employer Financial Responsibility: Now employers must prove they can pay the proposed salary for the entire employment period.

🔹 Why This Matters: Australia’s demand for skilled workers is growing, especially in sectors like healthcare, IT, engineering, and construction. The SID visa helps meet this demand by making it easier for employers to sponsor skilled migrants.

🔹 Next Steps: If you’re an employer looking to sponsor skilled workers or an employee affected by these changes, consult with experts to navigate the new regulations. Our team is here to help you find the best visa options and ensure a smooth transition.

🚨 Exciting Update for Employers in the Housing Construction Sector! 🚨

The Australian Government has introduced significant changes to help employers recruit skilled overseas workers more efficiently. Here's what you need to know:

🔹 New Eligibility for Skills Assessment: From 31 July 2024, eligible applicants in housing construction can now use the Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) program instead of the Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP).

🔹 Benefits:

Faster Assessments: 85% of MSA applications are finalised within 25 days.
Lower Costs: MSA is more cost-effective than OSAP.
Streamlined Process: Simplified steps mean critical roles can be filled sooner.
🔹 Understanding the Programs:

MSA: For applicants with Australian or comparable overseas qualifications. No practical testing required.
OSAP: Includes practical skills testing for applicants from specified countries.
🔹 Why This Matters: Australia's housing construction demand is soaring, with a five-year plan to build 1.2 million new homes and major infrastructure investments. Workforce demand is projected to peak at 450,000 by mid-2025, with a shortfall of 197,000 workers by August 2024.

🔹 Next Steps: Employers can guide eligible candidates toward the MSA program. For assistance with skills assessments or visa processes, our expert team is here to help! We can be reached at [email protected] or whatsapp us at +61431684908

The Commonwealth Government has launched the new National Innovation Visa (NIV)external link, a permanent visa program for exceptionally talented migrants, which replaced the Global Talent Visa as of 7 December 2024.

To apply for the NIV, you must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department of Home Affairs. The Department of Home Affairs will then invite successful applicants to apply.

We encourage you to review your eligibility for the NIVexternal link and explore the available nomination options, including priority processing under the following four categories when lodging your application with the Commonwealth Government:

Recipients of internationally prestigious awards. This includes Nobel Prize laureates, Fields Medal recipients, Booker Prize winners or Olympic gold medallists.
Exceptionally talented people in their field who are endorsed by a relevant Australian state, territory or federal government agency.
People with exceptional skills in critical technologies, renewables and low emission technologies and health industries.
Exceptionally talented people in agri-food and ag-tech, resources, defence capabilities and space, education, financial services and fin-tech, and infrastructure and transport.
Information about state endorsement will be available on the Live in Melbourne website in 2025. In the meantime, other options are currently open, and you can now lodge your application directly with the Commonwealth Government.
