The Sail Melbourne WASZP class also doubled as a Nationals/WASZP Games warm-up event, and was run successfully out of Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club.

Their Sailing Manager Ben Fels provided the following update of the last day of racing:

The wait ashore was worth it – With the first race in suitable conditions, the last three were gorgeous.

With 9 races completed – we ended up with a tie break for first with Magnus Overbeck NED having more wins and Ettore Bottini ITA in second and Louis Tilly AUS (Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club - RPAYC) in third place just one point behind.

Such incredibly tight racing at the top, it always mattered.

It was a great event for the sailors and the club turning weekend racing into a serious regatta. With the WASZP International games with 90 boats kicking off in a week.
