Foraging in Tasmania with Mic from .

I cannot remember the names of anything we picked & foraged (🫣), but there was a lot!
So interesting. Imagine all that, right there for us to eat! Who knew??

Then we went back to base by the water for a long lunch made by Mic, using many of the ingredients we had just foraged.

And of course, you can't eat a foraged lunch without wine, so we had along for the wine-pairing ride. Nice!

MONA.
I am starting off gently. Very gently.
What can I say but Wow! (And also - WTAF???)

The gentle stuff:
- The building is extroardinary.
- You need more time than you think. Really.
- Yes, there are 90 steps up to the Museum from the boat ramp.
- There are rooms and mini- exhibitions everywhere.
- The building is extroardinary.

This is the gentle intro to MONA.
A playground for uni dropout David Walsh. It is a place where he wants you to come and talk crap about art, because to be frank, that's what most people talk when they view art. You either talk sh*t about it, or think it is sh*t. Either way, there is a reaction.

The not so gentle part to follow. 🤣🤣

A bit of research. A bit of play.
Bruny Island did not disappoint, and neither did the weather! Stunning...

Effectively 2 islands bound together by a narrow isthmus called 'The Neck'. Home to Tasmanias 12 endemic bird species, some damn fine oysters, a good amount of cheese, beer, chocolate and honey, and Australia's southern most winery.

So worthy of a visit...

Food is one of the great pleasures in life.
To eat fantastic food - alone, with family, with friends, with a partner, with strangers - is truly heavenly.

I devour food when I travel. I seek it out.
Michelin. Local. Street. Hatted. Rural. Suburban. Village. City. Farm to Table. No Waste. Meat. Vegetarian. Vegan.

Good food is good food. Full Stop.

A joy of visiting new destinations is the ability to dive into the cuisine. Food tells a story. It is history, culture, family. It is a love language.

2024 saw a lot of food - a lot of food being eaten! And I make absolutely no aplogies for that. None. At. All.

I intend on continuing to eat my way through 2025, and delight in taking our guests on culinary journeys to far flung places. There is no greater pleasure.

So bring on 2025 and it's vast array of plates I say!!

2024. What a ride.

Amazing destinations.
An extroardinary amount of extroardinary women.
A lot of fabulous food.
A few laughs here and there. 😉

Thank you to all who travelled with us in 2024 - new guests & repeat guests. And much gratitude to those women who have booked with us for 2025 - first time guests & repeat. (And thank you to all those that have recommended us to others, word of mouth is crucial for small businesses.)

I cannot express how grateful I am that, because of you, I get to do this most incredible of 'jobs'. Believe me when I say I am holding a LOT of lovely - and very funny - memories!!

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of hosting a group of seven amazing ladies in Japan. Our journey was Tokyo, Matsumoto, Takayama & Kanazawa.

In Matsumoto, birth place of we popped into the Museum to experience her work.

Yeterday, in Melbourne, I had a girls day out and hit the for Yayoi's exhibition here. (And yes, it was fab!!).

And to make it a hat trick, in May and September 2025, I am hosting three Art Islands ours which will again, get me in from of this incredibly interesting (?) woman's work.

It is a Yayoi kinda world...

Yes, we get to wear some gorgeous outfits on our journey. But, as we sledge, ice-fish, boat and generally hang with the wildlife, we need to take into account the minus temps!

And the effort of putting a 20 kg onesie on is sooooo worth it!

We travelled about 1200 metres into the clouds to visit three villages: Khmu, Hmong & An.

It was a fascinating day, with a lot of 4x4 driving on roads that were battered the day before by monsoonal rain.

And hand on heart, the scenery was drop dead gorgeous.
