Always lovely to see a Magpie Goose...or two (hundred)!
Magpie Geese are one of the few bird species that can actually digest toxic plants. This is because they have a special adaptation in their gut that allows them to break down the toxic compounds in certain plants and use them for nutrition.

The Beautiful Firetail is one of Australia's most stunning and sought-after native finches. They can also be exceptionally tricky to connect with, so we were thrilled to observe these juvenile birds enjoying a dustbath on our tour through Wilsons Promontory last week.
Have you seen a Beautiful Firetail before?
You can learn more about this fascinating species by checking out the WildGuide entry on our website: https://treeswiftwildlife.com/beautiful-firetail/

Southern Emuwren are heath and scrub specialists found across the southeast / west coast and across Tasmania. Named for the unique coarse emu-like feathers, these are must-see species for Australian birders (and can often be devilishly tricky to get good views of!)
Last week our group in Mallacoota had incredible encounter after incredible encounter with these wonderful little endemics. Here's a little video taken on an iPhone just to give you an idea about how lucky we were!
