Did you know Ljubljana (Slovenia's Capital City) has a Cyanometer?! 🤯 It actually measures the blueness of the sky and reflects it on its surface! Turns out, the blueness of the sky can tell us about the amount of particulate matter in the atmosphere. Slovenia is moving fast toward a green economy and these art science installations serve two purposes. So this cool piece of art is also a subtle way to connect with the environment around us. Definitely worth a little detour to find if you're ever in Ljubljana!

ETIAS European Visa has been delayed now until the last quarter of 2026. So if you are heading to Europe in 2025, you do not need the new ETIAS Visa yet. Great news we say. HOWEVER an EES system is meant to start after October 2025, HOWEVER, you do not need to do anything as it is simply a data collection system that the EU is implementing as you enter the EU. Confused? Can You Feel the Heat!?

Surf molten lava, a thrilling yet dangerous experience! Balance atop high-tech boards (using the same ceramic tile as that utilised on the Space Shuttle), navigate the chaotic, flowing lava, where the constantly shifting surface creates an unpredictable ride. The molten lava, glowing orange and red, offers an otherworldly visual spectacle, while the intense heat and fumes from the volcanic material would create an atmosphere of raw, untamed power.

Unlike surfing on water, where the challenge is balancing on waves, molten lava surfing demands extraordinary precision, as surfers need to navigate the unstable surface of cooling lava crusts, avoid sudden flows of liquid lava, and manage the intense heat. The surfboards’ ceramic materials are crucial to survival, ensuring that the heat doesn’t damage the board or the surfer.

Try this, and other extreme lava activities on our new Icelandic adventure, launching on February 29th, 2026. No Roads Iceland: No rules, No Idea!

The early days of No Roads in the Komodo's were at times a little hair raising and risky. Find out more as Pete Miller, Founder of No Roads, recalls a story where he risked his (and his future wife's) life, to reach the Komodo islands themselves.

When I was young, I was fascinated by the global conflicts that so ravaged the globe at the beginning and middle of the 20th century, World War I and World War II.

As such, my dreams of travel at the time centred largely around visiting historical sites of great loss, be it the Somme, Normandy or the beaches of Gallipoli.

Somewhat surprisingly, even though my interest in such history never truly waned and despite as an adult visiting over 70 countries, I’ve still not yet set foot in France (the adult title is also regularly questioned)!

At least I did get to explore Gallipoli almost a decade ago…

Is there anywhere you dreamed of as a kid that you did get to visit, or somewhere that remains on the wish list?

A fascinating and surprising link between Norway and Nepal lies in the creation of the "Sherpa Stairs."

Inspired by the design of the steep, mountainous paths in the Himalayas, which Sherpas use to navigate the rugged terrain while carrying heavy loads.

Since 2005, the construction of these stairs. has provided an unexpected seasonal income to many Nepali families!

Our Story

Need to get away from it all? Want to reconnect with a self that seems to be forgotten? There is nothing like getting out into the remote to rediscover what you are all about. No Roads Expeditions will take care of all your adventure travel needs. There are literally hundreds of travel companies on the internet these days. The net allows small companies to have a presence on the web, and for them to compete with large multinational companies. This is great news for them and consumers. Unfortunately, while many of these small companies look great, their services and what they claim they can do for you do not always add up. For many of us, we work hard all year to get away for 2 or 3 weeks. That annual adventure centers our lives, puts life back into perspective and allows us time for just ourselves. It is a vital part of our existence and a time that should not be wasted. That is why it is important to choose the right adventure company, a company that will fulfill your wishes in a conscientious way, so that you can return home rejuvenated, enriched by the experience knowing you have helped yourself and hopefully someone else along the way. No Roads Expeditions is dedicated to achieving these goals for you. We are remote expedition specialists with operations along the Kokoda Track Papua New Guinea and the Highlands of PNG, the Komodo Islands Indonesia, Everest Base Camp Nepal, Tour du Mont Blanc France Italy and Switzerland, Machu Picchu Peru, Atlas Mountains Morocco and so much more. No Roads Expeditions is considered the industry leader along the Kokoda Track. Our operations in Papua New Guinea are legendary and our attention to detail second to none on the Kokoda Trail. We are also heavily involved in running trips to the Komodo Islands with our Komodo Island Sea Kayaking business.

We have also become one of the most successful companies along the Tour du Mont Blanc with our unsurpassed guides, itinerary style and inclusions.
