Middle Island and Merri Island at sunset, on the traditional lands of the Peek Whurrong and Kirrae Whurrong peoples of the Gunditmara, Eastern Maar nations. The islands are located just off the coast at Warrnambool, and the beach where this photo was taken is easily accessible as it’s just next to the town’s breakwater (and a short walk or drive from Thunder Point Coastal Reserve, where our previous photo was taken).

The rugged coastal landscape around Thunder Point in Warrnambool, on the traditional lands of the Peek Whurrong and Kirrae Whurrong peoples of the Gunditmara, Eastern Maar nations - which was well worth a second visit after acquiring a new camera card!

Note to self: before heading out to take photos at a spectacular sunset location always make sure that the photo card is back in the camera after processing pics from the previous expedition 😳

Waterfall on Martin’s Creek, in Kabi Kabi Country, southeast Queensland.
The creek flows through Buderim Forest Park, which is a real hidden gem of the Sunshine Coast. The park protects a deep valley filled with lush subtropical rainforest only 15 minutes from downtown Maroochydore and surrounded on most sides by suburbia, and features a delightful rainforest boardwalk that transforms into a rocky track which follows the creek upstream past multiple cascades and waterfalls.

Mount Coolum, on Kabi Kabi Country. The iconic track to the summit is one of the most popular walks in Queensland, attracting half a million hikers a year, while the rugged cliffs and dome-shaped summit - formed by lava that pooled and solidified below the ground 26 million years ago - dominate the landscape of much of the Sunshine Coast.

Grampians-Gariwerd National Park on Djab Wurrung Country is one of Victoria's most popular natural destinations - with good reason - but if you want to get away from the crowds try the Victoria Range in the park's south west where you can have wild views like this all to yourself

Al setting up camp behind Little Waterloo Bay, on Boonwurrung/Bunurong and Gunaikurnai Country. As well as being one of the most beautiful places to hike in Australia Wilsons Prom has outstanding overnight campsites, and Little Waterloo Bay is one of our favourites. The tent sites are scattered in a grove of temperate rainforest behind the beach, making for a shelters and tranquil place to spend the night.

Here’s another photo from our hike at Wilsons Promontory, on Boonwurrung /Bunurong and Gunaikurnai Country.
At the northern end of Little Waterloo Bay there’s a small creek that runs out through the sand, but if you head inland a little bit you come across this tranquil lagoon.

Little Waterloo Bay at sunrise, in Bunurong/Boonwurrung and Gunakurnai Country on the eastern coastline of Wilsons Promontory. This photo was taken by a hobbling Bruce, after injuring himself the night before while attempting to leap across a creek without getting his feet wet. Fortunately Al was there to assist and the campsite wasn’t far away (and the sunrise was magnificent)
